Rereading this, it's interesting rainbow8's interpretation in mind, it's interesting to the extent Io has been instigating the sexual situations. Misa is the one who tried to force herself on a drunk person twice. I realized that, later on, the author is always including something to which Misa is responding.

Sometimes it's Io's physical reactions, sometimes it's her general body language, and other times it's what she's saying in text that's often very small. With the small text, I'm not sure if it's supposed to represent Io speaking quietly, but I find it easy to miss.

This doesn't change the emotionally unbalanced nature of their relationship and lack of communication, but it's a large part of why this story doesn't feel like only other people doing things to Io. Io is pushing this Misa to make it more sexual and, in the process, making Misa open herself and connect with Io in a way Misa seems afraid to do with other people.

I also still think there a lot of parallels with how Io reacts to Hase and Misa. The main difference is the amount of flushing in Io's face with Misa, which happens much faster and with less stimulus than with Hase. Io also has more relaxed/dazed expression with Misa. With Hase, Io's expression is more guarded and she appears to be preparing herself for what comes next. That Hase/Marei groomed Io to act like a doll and not resist what other people do physically shouldn't be debatable at this point.

Edit: Also, the hostess club owner internally tells herself it was "love at first sight" when she found MIsa and outloud says that she knew Misa was a lesbian. Did Misa have some type of relationship with the hostess? Did she go Marei / mold apartment woman as a student ->Club hostess as an 18 year old runaway-> one night stands where she acts aggressively and vows never to get attached->Io? Whatever is between her and the hostess might have something to do with her present demeanor.

I think it's interesting how this chapter really drives in how one-sided Io and Misa's relationship is. Misa is constantly trying to do things to make Io feel better and it was nice to see Misa openly vulnerable about her inability to meet Io's expectations at the end. It's adding a lot more depth to their relationship and I'm really excited to see how it'll continue to develop. Hopefully we can see Io taking care of Misa's emotional needs too.

Misa not being able to perform her kink role and being consoled and comforted by her sub is so so good and so rare to see and I'm loving it. These two are so special to me aaaaaaaaa FLOWERCHILD really is the best to ever do it!

Yeah, this chapter was really nice at peeling back a layer of their relationship dynamic. Really get the sense that Misa's such an aggressive womanizer / top to keep herself at an emotional distance, and it seems like the slow march of the story has been Io progressively getting underneath all of her defense mechanisms to the point that Misa is starting to think of them as being in a serious relationship. As emotionally needy as Io has been through this story, it's nice to see her acknowledge Misa's emotional needs at the end and give her at least some support.

Can't wait to see how they handle the press release Hase's about to send out. I can imagine they might both appreciate a return to normalcy, but it's probably end up dumping fuel on the fire given the direction their relationship is headed.

Misa is a domme that every woman deserves to have/deserves to be. For all her talk about not being into it shes a complete natural at giving Io the release the needs. I aspire to be even half as good at what shes doing.

sighs in sub

You are so right there!!!

Misa is about to get thrown under the bus by Hase, so she'll have a lot of emotional needs to meet in a minute. I assume Marei will be doing doing whatever she was telling Hase she could do to break up Io, which likely will involve getting at Misa's past in some way as the jaded, older character.

The next level of their relationship would be Io getting more confident and able to support and Misa feeling safer and more able to be vulnerable, but they've got a ways to go for that. I do like how they didn't make it a pure dom/sub dynamic and have more to the characters, which is interesting because it seems to contradict some of the non-story art panels and such like the "captivated or in captivity?" line.

I wonder if the publisher is having them push that to draw people in or it's otherwise being used as advertising, while the authorial intent was always more for them to connect through the dom/sub dynamic and then learn from each other.

this is such an interesting dynamic and the bdsm is so well written~ I really didn't expect it considering this was just a random click while scrolling the BDSM tag!

Have there been any updates since November?

The scanlator got caught by real life and it's now in limbo.

But there are new chapters in Yuri Hime, yes.

Hi yes we're back! I believe we're currently three chapters behind (ch 21 was just published in this month's Yuri Hime a couple of days ago). Sorry for letting this fall so behind, I just had a run of bad health and couldn't find the energy to get caught up again. Fortunately we've got some great new volunteers working on this, and they're eager to get through the backlog.

Needy Misa and domestic Misa/Io is great. We've seen them gradually built trust with each other in a way that wasn't first clear was going to happen, despite some people accurately predicting that. Despite Misa's fears of being inadaquate, it seems like Io is fine with it.

This makes it look more like Misa had some type of relationship with Io's mom, though the exact nature of it is unclear. She literally mistakes Io for whoever this woman is though.

Io's response with the letter will be interesting. We've seen that maintaining her career is extremely important to her. She's been taught it's her value as a person, but it also happens to be something she's very good at and enjoys doing. Despite that, there's no way she's on board with sacrificing Misa.

However Misa would want to protect Io's career knowing it's important to Io, especially if the alternative is sacrificing both their careers. Misa also understands that short term compromises are sometimes are made to maintain one's public image and that escalating isn't always the right choice.

Therefore Misa may tell Io not to challenge the narrative for now... but that's complicated by that, independently of the impact on Misa, Io thinks she shouldn't have to hide being a lesbian. Io is the one who wants to out herself on some level. There's a lot of ways the author could with this depending on what they have planned for Io's character arc.
