Just do it! I don't read ongoing manga, but it's actually remarkably easy to keep up with or reread with the pairing tags. In the meanwhile, you've got enough content for any individual couple to last like a volume, so it's not like catching back up at some point would be much effort.

Also as a skeptic of the first ~3 volumes, yeah, this series is totally worth it even if you're not into the creative decisions made in those earlier volumes.
