So, how gay is this "Liz to Aoi Tori" thing? Is it just yuribait like the thing it's a spin-off of? Someone mentioned it in the Bloom into You anime announcement reddit thread (also, yesssssss) and said something like it was a triumph for the yuri genre (okay, I badly misquoted that, but it's something like that). It's apparently super popular in Japan right now, so I guess it would be a triumph if it actually were... but, yeah, I'm getting myself hyped up over one person's comment. Can anyone else testify that this is all that person claimed it is or is it just the usual subtext?

If the spoilers I saw are true, just standard friendship show with a unsatisfying ending. Not really yuri but not as bait as Hibike because neither girl find boyfriend.
It can actually be annoying depending on how you see it.

Here. They meant they wanted it to be true yuri, not something that has fanservice and parts aimed at male audience wanting to see 2 girls making out. Also I guess that person doesn't like rape in their manga. I guess according to them Citrus is a manga aimed at male audience and not "real yuri fans".

Not that I have a problem with it, but both Citrus are true yuri and aimed at a female japanese audience. It's okay to not like it and even complain about it, but maybe they should complain about something the series actually is. Like, complain about sexual assault is completely valid. But when they call it fanservice for men because it has sex scenes, they're saying women can't like sex.

Citrus and NTR are more popular between the female audience of Yuri Hime, not the male.

I was saying it for some time, but apparently there exist distinct "male fanservice" and "female fanservice" that some yuri fans can tell apart and judge if something is pandering to male audience or to "true yuri fans". As if "male fanservice" was inherently incapable of appealing to female audience. I guess in that case I'm a guy, since I don't mind most of that "male fanservice"

There's a difference between male targeted fanservice and female targeted fanservice in anime. Not that one can't enjoy something made to the other, as it always work with any product for a target audience (I'm not a kid and can enjoy Precure, for example), but the difference is there. Problem is that west doesn't seem to realize it.
For example, panty-shot is almost exclusively male-targeted fanservice as is most boob grab jokes. The kind of sexual tension used in Citrus is pretty common in female-targeted smut, though. Take 25-sai no Joshikousei for example. It's the exact same kind of smut as Citrus, even worse on the sexual assault part, and no one tries to defend that it's not for women. But apparently when you put two women in the same kind of story, it magically turn into something for men.

I think the problem of that person on Twitter and some others I saw complaining about the same thing is that this kind of complaint erase the concept that smut for lesbians exists and turns it into porn for men.

I think it's less not realising it so much as highly motivated to deny its existence if anyone objects to it. For a variety of reasons, I'm sure.

I guess to me it just doesn't matter which one it is. I either like it, don't like it or it doesn't bother me. If it appeals to me it doesn't matter whatever it was aimed at me or not. I bet most of the times I wouldn't be able to tell you which fanservice I'm currently seeing.

Uh, no, not even close. They said nothing of the sort. There was not a single mention of "true" yuri. They dont even use the word "yuri" at all. They dont talk about male audiences or other fans, only that they personally were looking for something more wholesome like Kase-san. I really dont see the issue of having a personal taste, the reason why this site uses so many tags so that fans can find certain pieces that fit their personal tastes.

Ahem so... Steins gate 0 looks promising! I like the new girl, but just like I did with season 1, I'll wait until is over, these kind of series with a lot of tragedy and suspense taste better when I decide when to stop watching. I remember watching season 1 and I got depressed with all the stuff going on it wasn't the best moment of my life and I had to pause it for like two years to finish it, it was around the time when Suzuha wrote the letter saying "I FAILED" that was really heartbreaking, I like the character a lot

I'm gonna pause Toji no Miko too because it feels like the plot will take a while to move on with action again.

PS I tried watching wakfu but all the silly auto-conclusive episodes bored me... Don't make a story with 25 episodes if you can tell it with just 10 or less and yeah I know, not anime but ... close enough?

Yes, people creating strawmen to argue against is pretty relevant.

Finally put some time into anime again, and what better way to get back than the Nanoha movie!

It's was awesome! That's not even spoilers...
The plot is a more streamline or "canon-friendly" Gears of Destiny. Which means...the material girls are canon now! Sorta
Notable non action scenes include: Arisa slaps dat ass, everyone teasing Nanoha for complimenting Fate, the fact that Yuri is called "Yuri" right away instead of U.D. Which might lower the amount of gay interactions with Dearche in the next one

I wish it was gayer, and the fact that they made it a 2-part instead of a 2-3 hr movie is kind of annoying. It was good! Only not as good as the second one imo

My Hero academia is still cool, not much else to say here.

Damn, well that's a shame... hardly unexpected but still. I mean, just think of what an incredibly popular and profitable yuri movie could do for the genre... has to happen sooner or later, right?

Gosh, can I just gush about Comic Girls a bit. Today's episode confirmed it as top of the season for me. Y'all need to be watching this if you're not already.

  • Relatable characters
  • Fuckin CUTE girls
  • Really solid art/animation
  • Hilarious
  • Heartwarming
  • Sexy
  • Embarrassingly gay MC

If this is what it feels like to be pandered to I'M LOVING IT

It's pink https://youtu.be/PJyYWEXiJ5g

About that SNK trailer, the mangaka said that he hopes to fix the mistakes in the manga with the anime adaptation, that political cold war arc was indeed not the most exciting part considering the lack of titans and the amount of text and I hope that 24 episodes would be enough to leave it right before the time skip

Looks like Amanchu is toning down Kokoro/Pikari's whole thing in the anime, which can only be a good thing since its awful and out of place. Instead we're getting more and more original scenes to strengthen the bond between Pikari and Teko.

Watching Comic Girls, and my biggest problem with it is... there are no shipping line there.

Like if any of the four girls can be gay toward each other, then there would be no stood-out moment to fuel my gaydar. How could I ship Ruki and Kaos, if they acted kinda gay toward the other two as well?

6 MOVIES FOR PRINCESS PRINCIPAL?!! https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2018-04-29/princess-principal-anime-gets-6-sequel-films-starting-in-2019/.130989 3Hz sure is working hard!

I'm assuming that it's going to be like the GuP "finale" and essentially be a second season that's just not aired on TV
