^^Raiko is the extra stage boss from the 14th Touhou game, Double Dealing Character. She was a taiko drum who was empowered by the Miracle Mallet to become a tsukomogami (as were various other objects). Before losing the power of the Miracle Mallet she bound her soul to a drum kit from the outside world to keep her free will... somehow.

I guess wanting a "brutish girl" might be because as a drum she enjoyed being... um... hit.

edit: I believe the other two here are Tojiko, from Ten Desires, and... I'm not sure about the other one.
edit2: the other one is Iku Nagae who I'm not very familiar with. Apparently she's from Scarlet Weather Rhapsody.

Isn't Emoji-chan usually the one saying "gross"? I don't read the mango so I'm not terribly familiar with all of that.
edit: is the "weren't you also calling her gross" referring to Emoji-chan calling Kuroki gross? I guess that would make more sense. I originally read it as "weren't you also calling her gross" (as in, you weren't just calling her drawing gross, you were also calling kuroki gross).

90s anime were oddly progressive. The Major, from Ghost in the Shell, is a lesbian cybog in a poly relationship. She also has a close relationship with her male co-star that doesn't turn into a romance and doesn't regularly require rescue. I think that show might still be progressive.

^Honestly, I've been mistaking a lot of Kasuari posts for posts of other things lately. I think I had the same reaction as you to this one, and the next one that was posted after this (the most recent one as of this writing), I initially thought was Junko and Hecatia from Touhou.
I'm not sure why I keep making these mistakes, Bandori's basically my main fandom right now.
