I'm glad to see the backstory, I think it lines up with a lot of what people were thinking. I just hope love can defeat whatever makes the armor consume the user, considering her father was a man that died without love maybe things won't end so tragically for our lovely lady knight.

It's a pretty common thing for these cursed and/or dangerous relics to work at different speeds on different people, and for people with bitterness and overwhelming negative feelings to have a harder time resisting them. Gaius was filled with sorrow, and wrath, and probably no small amount of regret after Celaria's passing. Dude sent his only child to fight on the front lines, doubtlessly hoping that she would die there. So yeah, it was just a matter of time before he fell.

I'd almost be surprised if at some point later we didn't have Clarice giving an armored Frost a cooldown hug or kiss after the later is forced to draw on the armor's power more than usual.

I want a couple between the maids, please and thank you

Well if those panels from the latest chapter are anything to go by, you may just get your wish

A surprisingly grounded tragic backstory for a series that has been quite over the top at times.

The circumstances of Celaria's death greatly recontextualize the events of chapter 5, when Clarice basically threw herself between the monsters and the victims. I have trouble believing that she didn't trigger Frost's trauma something fierce at that moment. While we don't see obvious flashbacks in that chapter, it ends on a frame of two chess pieces, which appear to be associated with Celaria in Frost's memories. I'd have to reread the series with an eye out for chess motifs like these...

Certainly seems similar in ways.

The fact frost can wear the armor probably confirms she was his daughter and in his dying breathes was probably like
Ah... Ok everything I did was wrong

This chapter was a mixed bag for me; on one hand, it's nice that the drama didn't get pointlessly dragged on, but at the same time, it feels like everything was solved way too easily. As someone mentioned earlier, this pretty much cleared 95% of the major plot points we had, so is hard to tell where the story will go now. Furthermore, Frost's backstory was surprisingly straightforward. Again, normally I would be happy with this, but for some reason I feel unsatisfied with the reveals, and given her personality, I doubt she is an unreliable narrator. That said, something odd is definitely happening with her, I'm willing to be that white hair has a larger meaning than just being an albino or her dad losing the fight with recessive genes.

Lastly, Dahlia is about to do something stupid, isn't she?

Fair enough, I'm very satisfied with the reveals myself but you can't please everyone as the saying goes.

Dahlia (Merchant's girl/violent's sister) seems to be conflicted about her current spying mission. Becoming too close to her spying targets.

Black knight/Frost backstory finally revealed, pretty much what I and other people guessed pretty much....Too bad Frost's father is not very knowledge about biology and genetics (It's a fantasy medieval world, their science background is sadly not very advance but could be wrong if they have alchemist stuff...Would be useful if magical gene test or something) and falsely assumed and thought his wife cheated on him just because Frost had white hair...Sadly humans are irrational creatures. I mean they should have look at the grandparent then great grand parents...then great great grandparents to make sure....Cuz you know recessive genes.

I mean there must have been cases where albinism is primarily inherited but, it can also occur randomly through a new gene change, also known as a mutation. RIP to people who got bad gene lottery with illnesses.

The most rational action L-(Loser) Father could have taken is to look at every single one of his male knights/guards that had white hair...Murder*Cough*...er-...*Cough* Make them disappear after a long 'intense' conversation*Cough*, if no white hair people (If not people with white= chance of fear lowering) in guards/knights then search the nearby village for the possible target for rage, send/hire loyal spies to find proof of his fear possibly being wrong [Stealth following wife visiting the village or meeting any males] ---> Then finally come to conclusion that yes he overreacted and was wrong!

...Also he and his soldiers fking suck at keeping the monsters from getting so close to the castle area (Assuming Mama and frost didn't get out of the castle very far)...I know it's the fking frontier and it's a very dangerous death zone where the King is using them as meat shields but 80% reason his wife dead due to not properly eliminating and stopping monsters invading near the castle.

Frost/BK is still in danger of dying/going berserk in the future after a few years ago sadly....So yeah, hopefully the power of love will save the day lol XD

The fact frost can wear the armor probably confirms she was his daughter and in his dying breathes was probably like
Ah... Ok everything I did was wrong

Would be nice to see the look of guilt, shock and shame on his face [Assuming magic armor can only be inherited by bloodline]...but sadly he was probably too berserk and mind broken due to the magic armor so seems unlikely sadly (Still 2-5% it could have happen tho when he was dying and witnessing the armor transferring to his daughter).

I do like this setup. I hope we can keep getting to the Black Knight's heart and humanity, little by little.

Soooo... did they keep baby Frost's gender a secret back then? Because if not, her father must have pulled a son from somewhere in the official narrative, which makes the entire suspected cheating-debacle ... hypocritical?

I'm on the fence with this chapter too ... it really is just one big exposition and I hope not symptomic of the series getting reduced in scope.

Sounds like when the wife and kid were forced to live in the tower they were mostly out of sight and out of mind. Then from there when her father made her fight on the front-lines she was assigned the role of another male soldier. Maybe there are/were a few close people that know her real identity but they didn't want to betray the family, or were scared to do so. Some more details could have been included to clarify things, but I thought it was a fine summary of Frost giving her wife the general gist. Plus I figure we might learn more later as well.

Re: grave flashback, am I the only one wondering what those sailor uniforms are doing in a medieval setting? I hope that maid hasn't been isekai'd or something.

Finally we know what happened in the past, and Frost finally has a chance to heal. As does Dahlia, it seems.

The hair color thing has definitely caused many real-life couples to break up as well, genes are a fascinating thing

The creators said they didn't know if vol. 3 would happen at all, so they tried to give a conclusion with the kiss, so even if the series got axed after volume 2, it's readable.

I assume they do the same and are trying to wrap up things in this volume like Frost's backstory and Dhalia's spy thing.

It's like they are making arcs with each volume, as far as I see.

I don't wanna say stupid things, but if I remember correctly, the writers said they had like a month to plan out the new volume, so I assume they only give the green light to the next volume when you are pretty much already working on it. So it makes sense to want to have a conclusion with each volume. My only problem is that this way, they can't really build a big plot with cliffhangers. I only hope that with each chapter the popularity will grow and it will reach the point when it's sure it can't get axed, so they can add the bug guns.
