I think "My Cute Little Kitten" is in a uniquely weird category of it's own, since I don't think Morinaga is trying to make it toxic but it's probably her strangest written relationship. Where it feels like she somehow made it unhealthy on accident, I have no idea.

Black & White is horrifically violent and abusive, and includes rape. So for me at least I'm not comfortable comparing them.

Lastly this series is an intentionally toxic back and fourth, and while I don't know anything about the source material so far this manga doesn't go anywhere nearly as far as Black & White, but I don't really think it's comparable either.

I'm kinda losing interest in this but some of the recent comments were great. So maybe I'll keep on chugging along for them.

i assure you the most toxic seeming things are miyagis all the time grumpiness especially towards only sendai, sendais fake friending situation and overdependency on shiori but that is so away in future
it's normal to hate miyagi at the beginning but please give her a chance, remember their family situations
also i dont know manga's pacing but let me tell you smut happened waay later and it was so damn worth it, just in case youre not into slowburn expect this

Every chapter, this one fascinates me. Definitely the best "buying a classmate" manga I've ever read.

Cute Little Kitten isn't toxic, it's just that one of the MCs seems to be terminally depressed.
