I think "My Cute Little Kitten" is in a uniquely weird category of it's own, since I don't think Morinaga is trying to make it toxic but it's probably her strangest written relationship. Where it feels like she somehow made it unhealthy on accident, I have no idea.

Black & White is horrifically violent and abusive, and includes rape. So for me at least I'm not comfortable comparing them.

Lastly this series is an intentionally toxic back and fourth, and while I don't know anything about the source material so far this manga doesn't go anywhere nearly as far as Black & White, but I don't really think it's comparable either.

I'm kinda losing interest in this but some of the recent comments were great. So maybe I'll keep on chugging along for them.

Every chapter, this one fascinates me. Definitely the best "buying a classmate" manga I've ever read.

Cute Little Kitten isn't toxic, it's just that one of the MCs seems to be terminally depressed.

Edit: I was hoping this series wouldn’t go down that route since it felt too lighthearted compared to other yuri's with the such concepts, but I have a feeling something will happen and they will get interrupted, leading to an awkward phase where they don’t talk. Just a guess, though, I haven’t read the light novel. :)

The next chapter is going to be a turning point (well, the first of many), but not in the way that LilyBlueCat might be insinuating.

Having made the jump to the web novel, I'm impressed with how much mileage the story can get out of keeping these two in the pressure cooker they made for themselves, especially with the minimalist cast. I was a little skeptical when I saw people gushing about it, but it really works.

I think the situation is delicate in a way that therapy not being on the table is something I find easy to accept, at least this early. The thing about therapy is that -except when mandated by court order or you get committed/taken in by ambulance- it's voluntary and requires some level of willingness. And it can be hard to realize that you need it if nobody around you suggests it in an encouraging, non-judgmental way.

At least we're not at Ave Mujica levels yet. That anime is along the lines of watching a psychological horror telenovela about girls with mental illness and they're in a band. It's...a deeply concerning ride to say the least...
