They appeared in 2002 on the first official Touhou music album, "Dolls in Pseudo Paradise", one year before Maribel and Renko debuted and made the Sealing Club the main characters of all further albums.

They're the unnamed characters depicted on the label and jacket of the Dolls in Psuedo Paradise CD (hence the names). They're generally assumed to be the shrine maiden and the girl of the "eight honest people" from the Dolls in Psuedo Paradise story, respectively, but I don't think that's confirmed or anything.

I figured as much, it's just that the way it's phrased implies directly that the ability to fly is because they're girls and not anything else like the abstract metaphysics of the setting.
