I don't mind, and often appreciate, people associating stories with representation that may not be there. We can't guess what evidence the author pulled from on whatever bell curves of personality traits.
In this case it may water down the term autistic more than some medical purists (including most eugenics mobs) see it. But good luck concisely spelling out what flavor of neurodivergence is in play. "Autistic" is fine.
It's not sufficient though, healthy nurturing is not in play, and sheltered girl is shaped by her circumstances. Isolation, childhood trauma, brain damage, all can have that effects we see.
Anyhow this chapter was weirdly cute. It'd be a good start to an action comedy.
