As someone who's read super far into the novel I'm glad to see in manga form they annoy me just as much as they do in the novel with how they act towards each other lol

For the most part this is intentional. I don't know how the manga will approach the pacing but regardless, this is a slow burn in every sense of the word. But don't worry, it won't be fuelled by miscommunications that can easily be cleared up. It will be something even worse and more frustrating but painfully realistic (aka. Mental illness)

I love seeing the art style evolve to fit the emotions of the scene. This really is the best fate for a manga adaptation of this, as much as I love U35ms work... It's cutesy but you see the color drain out of their eyes and Sendai's frustrated/angry expression doesn't hold anything back, and sometimes even Miyagi's usually blank expression or plain smile can be uncomfortable...

She does have strong attachements disorder and have a hard time believing that anyone could love her. Especially Sendai, who is supposed to be out of her league. That makes her incredibly dense, but that is definitely exaggerated for the sake of making the slow burn last longer.

At this point of the story both of them are still pretty dense, but Sendai figures out what she wants at a typical romance-manga pace. Miyagi on the other hand has issues after having been pretty much abandoned by her parents, which lead her to instinctively mistrust any kind of close attachment, and is afraid that letting anybody close will just lead to her getting abandoned and hurt once more - so yeah - she reacts to any sign of affection from Sendai by pulling away on instinct, and doubting the underlying intentions.
