I'm surprised no one has mentioned it, isn't this 100% just Usagi Drop if our MC had a trans wife?

"Journal with Witch" is also similar

I guess I feel like it's criminal not just because of the large stacks of "dirty money", but also because Ruka is seen with an unexplained bandaged arm in the first chapter, they imply their "jobs" are often "dangerous", and Ruka jumps straight to murder when Sakura says she thinks she's pregnant. I suppose they could be bodyguards or something.

Hitmen confirmed!

Sakura knows they whack people off at this job but doesn't know what sex is? Whatever, I won't think too hard about it. Author probably just finds the conttast humorous

If they let her sort paperwork, she's probaly seen files about contracts etc.

I read through the first 7 books of the webnovel now, and I have to say - jeez - Miyagi has to be the most dense character I ever encountered.

Sendai keeps wanting to french kiss me, while we embrace naked in bed. I wonder why she'd want to do this? It's not like she actually likes me or anything...

Not a criticism. I actually do like the more unique character this gives her, and the slow-burn romance resulting from it (or else I wouldn't have kept reading).

(Manga reader only, for now)
Wait, Miyagi is the dense one? After this chapter I would expect it to be the other way.

Miyagi hides behind the transactional nature of the relationship. She's quite daring right now because she feels like she has the authority to give orders, and wants to see how much Sendai will let her get away with. But she feels like that will all go away eventually, that Sendai is only there because of the money. Miyagi would find it a lot harder to ask Sendai for something without giving an order.

I wonder how much of this is the same in "Sakura's World"?

Genuinely how old is this lost child

In the other manga she's seventeen:

https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/saaya_and_sakura_a_story_about_a_woman_whos_popular_because_of_her_hunky_personality_ending_up_like_this_with_her_first_actual_love#4

Yes, but then there's a time skip. Saaya's hair has grown longer and she's considering whether to cut it, she remarks on the change in seasons since she met Sakura and how the time seems to fly by when they're together. So several months have passed before she confesses and Sakura may have already turned 18.

Also, in this version some details may have been changed. For example in the other version Ruka and Chiharu were secretly dating, but in this one they haven't implied that yet, and put a lot more emphasis on Ruka having unrequited feelings of some sort for Sakura.

I feel like she's been adopted by the yakuza, and kept sheltered from the world.

Her parents divorced when she was a child, and virtually abandoned her after the split. She'd only had sporadic adult supervision for most of her life, despite having no other physical needs.

If the character relationship map from the Saaya and Sakura version is still accurate (https://dynasty-scans.com/images/24710), then Chiharu is both her Guardian and her Boss, and Ruka is in a similar situation (but is actually asked to do the "shady work" of their company, while Sakura is treated like a mascot). Also "they divorced and then I never saw them again" sounds kind of like telling a kid their dog went to live on a farm. I wonder if her parents were rich yakuza members who died or went missing or to jail, and Chiharu took care of her while sheltering her from the world.

I love how shameless Miyagi is. Leaves a hickey as an "experiment", but doesn't even have lemons to test the cure. When Sendai calls it out she's like "you've seen my fridge, do you think I keep lemons?". She already got what she wanted lol.

I think Yui is jumping at a chance to hug Kanata, but she is being very careful to avoid it feeling like an "ulterior motives" hug. Kanata has said she's straight, and (Yui has to assume) Kanata might leave the apartment entirely if her roommate was trying to make moves on her.

"Don't worry, I don't flirt with just anyone" "She must be flirting with me subconsciously because she flirts with everyone"

My guess - despite "delivery health" being a euphemism, this client is literally here for physiotherapy and massage treatment before or after giving birth. I.E. the "legitimate" side of the business.

Not for $500.

Good point. Well then my second guess is she prefers inexperienced callgirls because they awake her motherly instincts.

HUH?????? I’m so confused why on earth would her mom know about her fetish and WHY ON EARTH would she have all people get her a gift like this!? Not thing about this makes sense to me given her character

Tong Tong's mom saw the collar on their video call, and then recommended Lin Luxi's mom buy the present. Tong Tong's mom seems to think it's just cosplay.

One thing that’s really well shown is Toriko’ hurt expression after she says she loves Sorawo and Sorawo isn’t able to say it back. Sorawo talks instead about having “the closest sort of relationship in the world” in a way that ignores Toriko’s feelings and is pretty rough. We tend to see things through Sorawo’s eyes and this is one time we get to see Toriko a lot more clearly than Sorawo does.

I interpret Toriko's reaction slightly differently. Sorawo is deflecting the question "I Love You, do you understand?", but still makes it clear that she has strong feelings for Toriko when she says "You and I have the closest kind of relationship in the world". It's also a callback to when Toriko said that, and means she has been listening closely, and treasured those words. It feels very tsundere, like she's in denial and can't face her feelings, but is not totally oblivious to them. I think Toriko is touched by that despite her frustration, and hugs her tightly with the combination of feelings.
It reminds me of when Sorawo told her not to "act like her boyfriend", making Toriko sad, but then said "This is our world, and ours alone. I'd never let anyone else in" making Toriko really happy.
