This was incredibly nice and fluffy, and it also feels like Kasumi is slowly working through her trauma. The death of a loved one isn't an easy thing to get through, especially when it's sudden and unexpected, but her being willing to help people study again seems like a nice step forward.

That's exactly what I was thinking too. I think that's one of the big differences between the two couples; the senpais seemed to have only loved at a surface level, wanting everything to be that "perfect Class S". Where as the main pair are growing and letting the Class S stuff evolve into a more realistic love. Which is inadvertently letting Kasumi heal, letting her realize it's safe to love and be loved.

This artist is absurdly amazing at drawing body movement. The way Kasumi went from blushing to blissful smile, the way Haruyo slightly touched Kasumi's waist and grabbed her back, with just a double page you can feel how much they love and treasure each other, seeking each other's comforting warmth even when they didn't show us their facial expression

It’s such a funny thing how Japan treats friends in high school separating and growing apart a inevitablity after graduation and while yeah that does happen to feel like in the current age of smart phones and social media that kind of thing is way easier to have friends keep in touch

It's the kind of thing that commonly occurs every where, even in this day and ages. If anything, because of how easy it is to keep someone's contact, people tend to take it for granted and not pour enough effort/invest enough time to keep the friendship alive, which ultimately resulted in friendship falling apart because there wasn't enough communication and at one point, it became awkward when people don't know if they should reconcile or contact their long lost friends after a long time not talking to each other. Though, it's not essentially a bad thing. Most people don't stay in a place for too long, environment surround them change will lead to their social circle change, and everyone is too occupied with their new lives to keep up with their old friends.

I noticed that it was different from before, but I think it could just be that their roles have loosened up? Haruyo is the one who is more vulnerable in the interaction, the younger girl who wants reassurance, while Kasumi is the more mature girl indulging her. So Haruyo does not pull Kasumi's head to her own shoulder like before, and instead snuggles her face into Kasumi's shoulder. Her hands approach Kasumi 'from below' to wrap around her waist, instead of 'from above' around Kasumi's neck.

Haruyo acts less like the dependable older sister in general (other than the speech patterns) in this chapter, and Kasumi doesn't try to correct her. Haruyo is asking for hugs, not offering them. She's happy to accept help with studying. Kasumi is probably uncertain about their future but I think she's warming up to the concept of being someone Haruyo can lean on too.

As for why Kasumi's arms were hanging loosely while Haruyo was hugging her, instead of around Haruyo's back, or what it means, I can only guess. She's clearly not uncomfortable with the hug itself. Maybe it suggests her ambivalence, that she doesn't share Haruyo's optimism, or that being depended on is still a challenge for her.

While technologies do help establish relationships between people in different regions (for example I can't imagine sharing thoughts of different comic with people in different continents in ancient times, now we have DS), it still depends on people to advance or just maintain their relationships, and uninvesting relationships still fall apart. The fundental dynamics hasn't changed a lot.

Yay! This one grabbed me from the start and hasn’t let go.

I've only just discovered igarashai jun, but I'm just supremely taken with their work now. I realized there was an idolm@ster doujin by them I read long ago without knowing the author and the themes are somewhat similar here-- the gap between reality and ideals, and the roles we play. Wow, wow, amazing stuff!
I'm a huge fan of class s. Both in it's purest form and in the modern sense where it's under the magnifying glass, getting (deservedly) picked apart. This work made me finally realize what I love in class s... To me it's a form of sparkling escapism. I obviously haven't experienced those long-gone days and realistically, I would be stifled in such a rigid environment. It's absolutely unhealthy, as we can already see with snippets of this story the pushing away sexuality. But something about that is appealing, too. The fact you have a script to follow, and then you can pretend to be so delicate and pure. That in this magical garden of girls, you can be pristine like a doll with your Onee-sama... The fact the author is referencing the original Hana Monogatari to this extend makes me so very pleased.
I'm very thankful I can read this work. I was surprised when [that] came along, honestly, I wish there was a tad more buildup but the result and what it portrays is still interesting. I look forward to seeing these girls pursue their unsustainable dreams, and I wonder how they will wrestle with the friction that comes form the incompatibility of their roleplay with the reality of themselves and the world.

I wrote this as a 2nd page to my post-credits talk on maturity, but didn't feel like it was worth attaching right to the chapter since it's mostly opinions:

Chapter 13 stands out to me as a rare case of Kasumi sticking to the leading role. She's nearly always allowed or depended on Haruyo taking the lead, but here the roles are reversed from start to finish. We can draw some obvious-yet-nondescript conclusions on Kasumi's trauma prompting this, fearing Haruyo hurting herself in trying to become someone she's not. Expressed pointedly in the dream sequence.

Kasumi's dream is beautiful and sad. An endless warm sea, sheltering them from the need to come up for air. Something that could have gone on forever. But as Haruyo touches on, it's unrealistic. Change comes regardless of if you're ready. And change is never without growing pains.

Both are making somewhat naive attempts at being the mature one. Haruyo's ineffectual longing to replace herself with the role she plays, Kasumi's vain wish to protect Haruyo's childish innocence. And it reminds me of the first lines of chapter 1. "Who I once was." Kasumi's failed attempt at remaining unchanged? "Who you are yet to be." Haruyo's failed attempt at becoming someone else? "Are both still waiting there?" Contained in letters left behind in the library.

Though that's only one interpretation, and it's not all ill omens. They're discovering each other in a much more comfortable way so far than SayoMizu's "who is this" moment. Besides, if those two can work it out there's no reason the fluffballs can't.

Still, even as Kasumi and Haruyo reach for each other, they aren't fully there yet. This chapter's headlined with imagery of them being close yet disconnected. Haruyo's insecurities becoming clearer opens the door to drama exploiting them. Kasumi is nowhere near being open with Haruyo, let alone herself and the audience. Their needs in their relationship aren't mirrored. And Kasumi contradicts herself, wanting "Onee-sama" to guide her escapism while wanting to protect Haruyo from reality.

But more than the maturity to handle whatever comes, they share a strong attachment that keeps them steady. Making these little strides towards each other. They might stumble but I can't imagine they'll fall backwards. Even if their future is mutual failure, growth through pain, I think they already have all they need.

I initially just saw the extras, was excited for a little something to tide me over.
Then I stumbled into the new chapter. Thank you, Translator, for continuing with peak. This was a cute chapter, seeing them sort of break their roles and sort of reach closer to one another, yet you still get that feeling of them relying on their roles and (especially Kasumi) holding one another at arms length. It's like going in for a hug, but both of you just kind of outstretch your arms and tap each other on the shoulders.
Still, seeing Haruyo be so open and in touch with her feelings, happy to be a loveable goofball while also straining to have herself be taken seriously and maturely, is nice. And if Kasumi tries to box up her worries in the future, I can't imagine Haruyo won't call back to this trying to get Kasumi to be a little more open about her problems.

I’m so fucking scared
