Historical yuri keeps failing to not break the reader's heart

Need more from this author, their art style is so beautiful, like they would draw the best porn

I went to their twitter and they do have more yuri but not porn which surprised me because their style is very hentai-like

Soooo..... The other girl died?

I think it's slightly open ended/up to interpretation and the last panel is is her either just finding the location or finding fumiko herself.

I would presume the radio mentioned either where they lived previously or where they worked getting fire bombed. But it does stand to reason that if fumiko had moved out to where her father's land was she could have been fine since it seems like it's a hyper remote place just off in the mountains.

Then again maybe I am just coping

Welp, that was both incredibly beautiful and bitter sweet :( Very era accurate, sadly, there's just not much 2 young women could do back then outside of the rigid social norms/obligations. At least they did get to enjoy those happy earlier moments and be carefree and in love for a short while.

so because we do not know if they meet this is not a tragedy?

i guess is as people said, it’s up for interpretation, i do believe she is alive and all of that, that smile does indicate that, and the raid? i bet she was worried her ex lover is dead, but with the smile at the end i believe she is alive >.>

Another chapter that's very much grounded in its time, but still has its nice times at the start and a sliver of hope at the end.

This has to be one of the best yuri anthologies I’ve read. Yuri mixed with historical settings is always an interesting read, and it’s even more intriguing to see how sapphic relationships were depicted.:)

The man looks like he is at least 30 years older than Anata. It looks like he is in his late 50s.

This is labelled as reiwa in the series page, but is definitely the showa oneshot

Thanks, fixed! Dynasty uploader just puts them at the end of the chapter list by default, forgot to reorder.

With how Anata looked increasingly disheveled, didn't take care of the house, or herself, she didn't look long for this world.

Curious, is "Anata" her name, or is she left unnamed? I know "anata" can mean "you" but I haven't heard it as a name before. Agreed with the comments above, I would love to see more from this artist; the soft rendering is so nice ;v;

This is why I don't like historical yuri.
Most of the time bad things happen, the main couple don't end together or the end is open to interpretation.
At least, their relationship is clear. No besties, or sisters.

She does find the place, as seen in the intro. I choose to believe that she found her again too!

I thought the ending was definitively ambiguous. For those of us who desperately crave happy endings, one could turn that darling smile into she sees what she is hoping to see. Or she could be smiling at the memory. Or anticipation. I'm going with the happy ending. Keeping it fully in mind that I convinced myself that the ending to the anime of Bloom into You was a happy ending, even though it was no ending at all. My judgement is not to be trusted.

For me at least I don’t care if she is dead or not because I think that isn’t the point or what it is important here. She freed herself, she went there as they promised, she can now live.
I also like tragedy so it’s more romantic and to my taste if the gf is dead lol
