I understand that her stories are pretty cleaving, but that does not equate being hated or spat on. Some people wrote here and in the Fatale Game thread that just because it's Battan it must be bad, or "see author, close page", without judging the stories on their own merit. There's clearly a bias against Battan because she doesn't always write yuri that ends well, or doesn't write only yuri. Or maybe her manga are trying to make people think and people don't like to think.

Ya it feels like people sometimes can't handle the "humanness" of the characters in her longer works. Which I guess would normally be fine if it was just a "this isn't for me" but it seems to turn into genuine vitriol in some spaces, not so bad here, but she objectively does get way more hate than she deserves. Somehow it feels like realistic and messy falls into the uncanny Valley between the peaks impossibly toxic and insanely fluffy that Yuri readers seem to usually be looking for, and it seems like some people don't like what they find there.

Ya it weird I think maybe it's like a matter of taste and the people that bounce off oh her then hate her work? I consider run away with me, girl one of the best written yuri manga I've read.

Oh yeah I love this series but people on social treating it as "the good Yuri" in a very purity based way is always exhausting and frustrating. I genuinely worry what the fandom is going to be like when the anime comes out. It's also ironic because a lot of the super purity types that claim to be "good " because of their constant policing of media and enjoyment of it tend to be very toxic.

Honestly makes you feel like a fake fan of you act that way both of the series and Yuri in general.

I might be more alone in this take but I genuinely hate how this series is often just reduced to being called " the green Yuri", it feels really reductive.

I think it's slightly open ended/up to interpretation and the last panel is is her either just finding the location or finding fumiko herself.

I would presume the radio mentioned either where they lived previously or where they worked getting fire bombed. But it does stand to reason that if fumiko had moved out to where her father's land was she could have been fine since it seems like it's a hyper remote place just off in the mountains.

Then again maybe I am just coping

I'm probably going to get hated for this, but...

As much as I appreciate Mitsuki's character growth to becoming assertive and confident (and as much as Aya clearly appreciated that little move as well), Mitsuki is still showing facets of jealousy, control, and lack of trust. In real life, these things are huge red flags.

If someone had come up to Mitsuki and asked her about Western music, she would have gone into full "geek mode" and chatted them up non-stop; if said person had done that under the pretense of flirting with her, Mitsuki would not have noticed; she would have been ass-deep in gushing about Eric Clapton and George Harrison 0.38 seconds upon hearing the song playing on his phone. So, for her assume Aya couldn't deal with this shows a rather meaningful lack of trust, and maybe even a bit of projection.

And, considering the meaning of the song... Patti Boyd made her choice, and George Harrison respected it. Mitsuki would know that.

So yeah... I love this comic, I've loved it since the moment I first laid eyes on it, but I can't say I like this particular entry, and I hope it isn't the start of a dark path for Mitsuki.

Not sure I agree with that. If you ask me, rather than Mistuki not trusting Aya, it read more like "is he really trying to hit on her? Oh right, that reminds me, we haven't actually addressed if we were dating or not. Might as well ask." And then she did just that and asked at that moment because what teenager has never had any impulsive acts.

If you notice, not once did Mitsuki tell Aya or the other guy not to talk. All she did was ask and left them to it thinking she could get back to her conversation with the former bully. She probably wasn't even thinking (at least not fully) about how that question would affect the other guy and Aya's music discussion.

ya i really did take that as her angling for genuine confirmation for herself first and foremost. i feel like if she was trying to tell the guy to fuck off or it was supposed to represent her being genuinely jealous or lacking in trust of aya the situation would have gone differently.

This is just me not being able to marry Misasagi all over again.

Well it's finally over.

Honestly the last half of the chapter makes me even more disappointed that the author spent so much effort blue balling us for nothing, could have played out the gimmick an appropriate amount and then just dropped like 10 chapters of them being together and it would have been like a 7-8/10 manga probably. As is it's mostly deeply frustrating after the first half.

I feel like y'all are ignoring the "pretend family" part. Joe saying to Kanna that she's like Mitsuki's mother now, with the implication that Joe is like Mitsuki's father, is hurtful. Even if they're ok now after their breakup, this is a level of intimacy that touches on that wound. Joe isn't courting Kanna. He has feelings for her still, as evidenced by chapter 83, but he isn't doing anything about it. So him leaving their connection implicitly through Mitsuki is taking advantage of Kanna and is cowardly. And he even acknowledges it himself in the thought bubbles in this chapter, that he had been living without thinking.

The whole situation is too much for Kanna. It's like seeing a vision of the life you wanted to have, but not actually be able to have it. It would probably be simpler if she just asked if he wants this to be something more, but it's likely that she's feeling too fragile to do that. If she gets rejected again it might just break her. I agree with other people that communication would do wonders here, but I kind of feel for Kanna in the situation. It's hard to play the emotional backbone for someone you have feelings for and be reminded that they don't have feelings for you (even if she might be wrong about that).

This also nicely parallels Mitsuki and Aya. Aya isn't communicating her feelings explicitly enough for Mitsuki (although she did communicate them), and Mitsuki, like her uncle, is going with the flow too much and living without thinking.

I feel like this is such a random "ooooh I am actually bad" that it's actually pretty passé and lame.

I think the proceeding chapters are going to really affect my opinion on this because it feels sorta sudden.

I want to see this revealed as a coping mechanism or mask, rather than her suddenly being super okay and super cool in school. I don't think aya defending her should magically make her better, it obviously helps but I don't think most people go from breaking down in tears to swaggering in over the course of a week.
