Ha, yes, Terraforming. Or, how our planet is so fucked up that we've made it a common topic of entertainment the idea that we would make another to live on.

"Terraforming to replace Earth" is an idea that pops up (Firefly; maybe Aria) but there's tons of SF where Earth is fine but terraforming is simply part of expanding into The Space Frontier; building orbital habitats may be in addition or an alternative (for authors who think terraforming is too unrealistic.)

Many, if not most (or all even), locations we see in Aria are created in the image of places on Earth which might not exist in the series in their current form or were lost completely. Not even speaking of the setting of Neo-Venezia itself, that one could not be more on the nose.

Earth seems to be a messy place but at least chugging along and Aqua's short history is full of sacrifice and tragedy. Not so much a case of terraforming to replace Earth than preserving and recreating the beauty of Earth that's been lost with a heavy dose of romantization added to it (and if I want to be cynical about it, made into quite the appealing tourist attraction). I don't know how deeply the anime covers these darker bits the manga hints at, I only watched a little of it.

Which sucks! I wonder if Hinami is just too afraid of being real/making a serious attempt cuz when she’s not bein serious and down to earth, when Tsukino rejects her, the easy cope is “she prolly thinks I’m joking” but if she actually did srsly confess and get rejected, there’d be no way to cope other than Tsukino not liking her

That’s my theory anyways. It’s either that’s or there’s no plans on actually having them get together

I didn't mean amnesia or resetting between successive days/comics. Don't know where you got that from, it's obvious this series has lot of continuity. I meant that cause they're characters in a gag-a-day comic, then every day/comic must end with a gag. It's probably pretty hard to seriously court someone when your every interaction with them has to end in a punchline. Not that she doesn't try mind you, in todays comic for example, taking her to The Pool famous for people fucking in it is an honestly not very subtle way of saying she wants to fuck Tsukino. It is clearly meant as flirting, just also done in a way that generates a laugh from the audience. She's trying her best within the limits of her reality.
Hinami can leave the comic's universe, and has godlike powers within it, but she doesn't seem to be able to change the nature of the comic itself as being a comedy. It seems more like, when she's in the comic, shes beholden to its nature as comedic. She can't just choose to stop setting up jokes and seriously confess to Tsukino, because making jokes is just an intrinsic aspect of being the Boke character in a gag-a-day manga. So she's just biding her time until she the day she can take Tsukino to "the real world" too, where she'll be able to express her feelings sincerely.

Or maybe none of that is true and she just likes gags. Who knows. But it would definitely explain some of her behaviour if it is the case.
