Mitsuki is so smooth
I had this feeling, too. She understood that Aya was important to her, but it never felt romantic to me. Maybe Mitsuki didn't really understand her feelings until Aya kissed her (though I'm not sure why she'd say "I knew it" if that were the case).
So how exactly are we reading that, “I knew it! It was just as I thought!”? I would have expected Mitsuki to be, at best, a bit shy and abashed post-kiss/mini-makeout session rather than quite so . . . what? Triumphant? Is it, “I knew her lips would be soft”? Or, “I knew she was romantically attracted to me”? Or . . .?
Obviously, it’s a positive reaction, but a little enigmatic, at least to me.

In my humble opinion, the best part of the last two chapters is the fact that 'THE KISS' didn't turn into a GRS-esque muppet-makeout session
well, it should
Joe's status:
https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/the_guy_she_was_interested_in_wasnt_a_guy_at_all_ch112_5#13 "he stayed in Japan to raise Mitsuki"
https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/the_guy_she_was_interested_in_wasnt_a_guy_at_all_ch112_5#7 "Joe-san turning into a dad"
So we still don't know what's with her biological parents, or his legal status, but he seems to have been Mitsuki's effective 'dad' from when she was smol (skateboard photo, and compare to Aya's 'before'. It's not just "go stay with your uncle for high school." I don't recall if we know when Kanna left for America.
A few pages later (https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/the_guy_she_was_interested_in_wasnt_a_guy_at_all_ch113_5) "he adores his niece". Just that. There's no mention of him actually raising her, which I fully expected to see here. Damn.
After binging the whole thing, there is no explicit confirmation nor denying whatsoever. And the "becoming a dad" line works for BOTH the "became her legal guardian" and the "no daughters of his own so he loves his niece as a daughter" scenarios, to rub salt on the lack-of-info wound.
But, betwen that lack of info, and the info we DO have (that he has been willing to leave the country leaving her behind, twice), the most likely scenario we have is the "he is not her legal guadian but she's living with him for some JIS-standard plot device".
WHich is the BEST possible scenario. He leaves with Kanna, and leaves his store and house to Mitsuki so the two lovebirds can start their 300+ chapters lovey-dovey adult life right away after school.
MAKE IT HAPPEN!
See, my interpretation of that is less that 'he has been willing to leave the country leaving her behind' as that she isn't his kid, and there are other family members he could have passed her off to had he decided to leave the country with Kanna. I suspect he is her closest living relative and likely was on good terms with her when whatever happened to her parents happened. She seemed kinda chipper for the dead parents card to have been freshly drawn, I admit, but her guardianship at that time was likely not set in stone yet. In that scenario, throwing her to a cousin or great aunt and going to chase his dreams outside the country is something many would not have blamed him for doing, but that he himself would have seen as abandoning her. He'd think about it, since it is a huge disruption in his life that he surely didn't plan for, but he knows if he actually left if would be a huge regret no matter how well things turned out.
Alternatively, her parents are alive, but are also an absolute mess such that even if Joe isn't her guardian on paper he's been the only real adult in her life for a long time.

Mitsuki had bad self esteem for a long time, remember the series started with her assuming Aya would hate her and make her life hell if she learned Mitsuki was "oniisan". Aya's been pretty obvious for a while now trying to indicate to Mitsuki this is not the case, but never stated her romantic interests explicitly because thanks to Mitsuki friend zoning her, she thought Mitsuki didn't want a romantic relationship. So Mitsuki had very good reason to believe her feelings tonight would be reciprocated by Aya, but was still anxious about it, enough to be super relieved that her anxieties were wrong and all the rest of her was right.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I’m kinda weirded out by how the uncle is professing that he’d be willing to leave Mitsuki (and that the lady even wants to hear that/wants him to leave with her)
Like, yeah, Mitsuki isn’t a child anymore, she doesn’t need to be coddled, but she still needs a guardian? Does she know how to do taxes? Pay for the store’s rent or whatever it’s called?
She has been actually taking care of the store for quite a long time (she's technically a part-time employee, but she is more than able to handle it herself). The taxes are paid by the store owner, not by the employees, no matter if the owner lives and works right at the store or does live half a world away. He would have to keep doing so no matter why until and unless he legally transfers the store to her - which he legally could do in just a few months of in-story time...
Also, I've checked and she indeed lives on the floor right above her uncle's shop, but haven't actually found references to her uncle actually being her legal guardian. Does someone remember if that's adressed at any point?
EDIT: It is, indirectly, in chapter 49. He seriously considers leaving Japan with Kanna while Mitsuki is still a little girl. Plainly he isn't her legal guardian at that time. Not gonna binge now the remaining 70 chapters, but I don't remember any reference to her being orphaned after that scene... My take is that she's just his favorite niece that he dotes over because he has no child of his own, and he's her favorite cool uncle that she pays more atention than to her actual legal guardians (because doting cool uncle, tha's why).
Why she lives above the shop is anyone's guess, but since there are possible reasons that aren't a sretch of imagination (like her uncle having inherited a shp and his sibling inerithing the house above, just to name one), let's just gloss it over.SECOND EDIT: I lied. I binged the thing. No, no referenceI could find of she being orphaned during that time, but explicit reference of Mitsuki's place being her uncle's house a few chapters later. So at some point after childhood, Mitsuki started living at her uncle's house, whatever the reason. From BEING her legal guardian, to the typical Anime & Manga plot of "go live at this uncle's home while you go to school at this different city", anything could be.
Cute confession scene nonetheless
Yep
I am no longer concerned. GOOO GET YOUR GIRL UNC!! Wooooohoooo
Leave ASAP so the girls can have the shop to themselves… hehe
On a slightly unrelated note, I feel like this is the best paced Yuri I’ve ever read (pacing when it comes to having to wait for updates)
There was enough buildup, enough drama and tension, it never felt like stuff was being dragged longer than it needed to be for the plot, and the reward at the end was very rewarding.
say that again for the people in the back XD when the hickup in their relationship happen, people were already burning bridges with their pitchforks and torches !
Ngl I might’ve been one of those ppl? I can’t remember. The back to back kiss scene got me rubbing my hands and grinning like crazy
God that sooo satisfying. So enjoyable.
If the series ends in like, 10 chapters ima cry (why it alway end when it gets good??)
What a phenomenal chapter, even better than the last.

A very plausible reading, thanks. It’s just that Mitsuki’s default mode has been so thoroughly self-doubt almost to the point of self-abnegation that her latest reaction seems like a total 180 from her usual affect—almost like her characteristic “unintentional rizz” has now become intentional.
Well, more power to her (and to them both).
This chapter was godly, not only for their kiss, but finally her uncle can have his love fullfilled again
I'm probably in the minority on this, but I'd be perfectly fine with Kanna not doing a 180 just yet on her whole '' it's OK for me to have my own life '' thing. Joe means well, but it's still a spur of the moment decision that's he's just made quite a few years after their relationship actually ended. Part of me would like to see Kanna at least put some thought into it, although this might just be me being a boring adult voice of reason I guess :P

Agreed. The prom should hear the rutting at last as they writhe on the PA button.

I assumed she was talking of Aya's feelings- she thought she liked her back but wasnt sure till then.
Mitsuki's reaction is one of relief.
Like, she wasn't sure Aya really had that kind of feeling for her, but the kiss and the explicit consent to the kisses validated what she thought. Hence, the "I knew it".
やっぱり in Japanese is something said when you get confirmation of something. So it's usually translated as "I knew it", "As expected", "Sure enough" etc.
who here amongst us supposed adults has not uprooted their life (several times) to follow the woman they love to another country throw the first stone
I am in this picture, and I don't like it.
When I saw this chapter on her Insta, my wife and I were geeking out like the weird gremlins we are. NGL, I hope Joe goes to LA with Kanna, Mistuki is in the perfect place to take over the record store.

It's a bit weird to translate "yappari" as "Just as expected."
I also think Mitsuki may be a tad young to take on the responsibility of a shop owner, aside from all the legal stuff that would have to happen first.
I speedread this in 2 days. I honestly evaded the series when it just started because I wasn't sure if it was queerbait, but I'm happy to see it delivers. That said, I found the last arc a bit weird? Not that it would be unrealistic for Aya to get jealous like that, but the way they behaved around each other seemed a bit random more than anything. Other than that a very nice read.

Jealous? Aya didn't really get that jealous in this last arc. That was where we all thought it was going to go when the arc started and the underclassman started going after Koga, but that was a misdirect. UC was actually just interested in Mizuki's music, and Aya recognized the opportunity she presented for what it was and tried to push her to take advantage of it, even though she really, desperately wanted to ask her to prom.

She definitely got jealous during that arc though. She pushed Mitzuki to take advantage of the opportunity, but she was uncomfortable and a bit jealous at the same time, confused about how to feel. It wasn't just jealousy that was her issue, but it seemed part of it. Her behavior showed that, and chapter 108 was pretty upfront about her messy ball of feelings. It didn't turn into a whole thing, but she was still silently struggling with the situation until she was confronted and had to admit it.

Now that we know for sure that her feelings for Mitsuki were romantic in nature, it does make that part a bit more ambiguous in retrospect IMO. The MAIN thing was obviously the potential career thing, but there might have been a bit of jealousy underneath as well that Mitsuki was getting close to another girl and she didn't like that .
Wingmanned successfully
Aya is like "Made up?... maybe. Made out... YES!"
