“Don’t lose yourself, you don’t want to have another meltdown.”

Oh my goooooooood Adachi!!!! Stop being relatable in a way that makes me feel like I need therapy!!! These books hit me so hard years ago, having a visual aid now just hurts even more.

God I love her. She’s doing everything she can. I love her so much.

So much worrying, and Shima just blows all the worries away by letting her know all she had to do was to ask. ^_^

Well, she'll have to make some plans now, though. :D

I love Adachi, but man she could use some chill pills.

This comment reminds me, it was while reading those light novels some years ago that I related so much, first to Adachi and later to Shimamura, that I started investigating myself and ended up with my ASD diagnosis. I think the manga tones down Adachi's weirdness (and Shima's coldness) a lot tho, it's way fluflier.

Autism (and mental illness for that matter) is not a subject you see tackled all that often in manga/anime land, but many people have made that observation about Adachi in the past. It's certainly the way I have always read her character, pretty much since the second LN onward. I actually find it quite helpful in understanding her actions and reactions, it all starts to make total sense when you factor that in, plus growing up with no actual parental figure in her life.

How bad is it in the novels? It seems pretty bad already. '- -
