How are they paying for everything? Kase lived in a dorm but both Yamada and Mikawa have apartments. Yamada has part time jobs Mikawa but is just "job hunting." But even if she did have a part time job as well is that really enough to live off of? And Kase presumably does nothing but train, and yet still has spending money for thing like convenience store runs.I would hope that Yamada isn't paying for everything while Kase just trains. Are their patents paying for stuff? Did they get loans? More than even this manga this is a topic I never see mentioned in any manga. Highschoolers just magically get apartments when they graduate and go to school without worrying about money, and maybe get a part time job if they want to. I'm curious what its like for Japanese students in real life and why it's never brought up in manga.

"...it's just a show, I should really just relax...."

Chapter cover page doesn’t make sense… Kase now wants to avoid Yamada getting wet? You done messed up years ago Kase

This. Plus, she is a plant person, plants need water to thrive.

Why are Kase-san's classmates all jerks?

She is on a competitive sports team that demands discipline and a high degree of subordination of the individual to the team goal and mission. Insofar as Kase is allowed to deviate as much as she does it is due to high performance. It doesn’t look like a fun environment, but it seems culturally realistic to my experience with such teams. Keep in mind that we haven’t seen any actual hazing that might also show up for such a team if things were really off course.

The above comment on how do they pay for it all is germane because the answer is they both have jobs.

God I hate how Kase always tells Yamada to not wear this and that cuz there are perverts around!!! LET GIRLIEPOP BE A CUTIE ALL SHE WANT PLEASE.

The thing is that Kase has a strong sense of protectiveness towards Yamada (mixed with jealousy XD) who is totally oblivious to the effect she has on the boys. In the first series she almost suffered sexual harassment at the school festival when some boys wanted to take her by the force before Kase arrives to save the day.

And in the pool, the mixed party, on the beach too she was surounded by a bunch of guys... Kase is very popular with girls, but Yamada is irresistible for the guys.

I'm not sure where you live but I know in America you can also get tuna with that naming, the main brand that comes to mind is this one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken_of_the_Sea

If I had to bet, I'd say Doi's role will be to be the trigger that makes their relationship public.

She doesn't seem to care about social constructs, and values competition above all else. Maybe she flirts directly with Kase or notices that when Kase is worried about Yamada she is slower and tries to break them up. Trying to convince Yamada telling her that it's for Kase's sake, perhaps?

I can't wait for Doi-Yamada first meeting in the competition, and it'll be great to see a Yamada-Fukami interaction, it has been ages since they talked on the beach.

I think the arc is about our main girls' competitions. I don't think this new person will be involved romantically at all. I can't see what would essentially be a repeat of the same setup we just had, back-to-back.

Calling it now, there's gonna be a schedule conflict between Kase's race and Yamada's contest.

That's what I am assuming too.

I honestly had to go back to the previous chapter and check the dates for the gardening contest with how this series has been messing with their plans at times, but looks like they should be fine this time. So nice to see the two brighten up each other's day. ^_^

I hope so, at this point and after the "race arc" another jealousy arc will be repetitive and pointless.

If I understand correctly, what may coincide with Kase's competition is the local exhibition of the president where Yamada goes to learn with her classmates. The competition where Yamada participates is in September.

True enough. For some reason I thought we'd been given a specific (earlier) time for that one as well, but looking it again, it only says it's on a day off.

Oh yeah. That was my first thought, too. I love this manga and these two goofballs to pieces, but let’s face it: Takashima-sensei has never met a literary trope they didn’t love.

I couldn't care less about the club drama. It's not a sports manga. Where's the cohabitation fluff? Is that too much to ask? Keeps getting worse and worse.

We literally had cohabitation fluff this chapter with them living together, talking, and then the kiss + hug. I don't think it's getting worse at all, even if I'm not huge on the drama in this series myself I still love the series overall, along with all of the fluff we are getting.

Yeah, Yamada's contest is in September, while Kase's match is in July, so no conflict there, but the thing with the upperclassman is vague, and a Sunday in July would definitely be "a day off."

I kinda hope they don't go that way, as it's a bit cliche, but as mentioned, that's pretty on-brand for this manga.

The jobs are mostly for extra spending cash.

The keener point is that they're...college students. It's probably a combination of money their parents set aside for college along with various forms of financial aid. College loans aren't as common there, but I'm pretty sure Kase's on some kind of scholarship and Yamada's probably there on her parents' savings.
