This is honestly one of my favorite oneshots so I'm happy it's finally here. Romance as a genre tends toward the melodramatic, so it's really refreshing to see a manga that showcases instead an ordinary love that results from seemingly ordinary meaningless actions that become meaningful precisely because they lead to love. I also like how Sayaka is just a little bit sneaky and manipulative lol.
Mission accomplished but the girl you’re shooting for is stuck on the “we’re both girls” track! Give her some yuri to read! Maybe start subtext then work your way up until it’s obviously romance.
I like the different background shades to denote farther back and less farther back in time. I don't know if I've ever noticed a manga use more than "white for present, black for past," though I'm sure it's been done.

I have before. As noted, black is for the past and white the present, but grey is used for "scenes we've already witnessed". It's not very common, but it's prevalent enough.
