What's funnier is Sorawo wonders how Toriko can always pick her out from a crowd while, from Sorawo's POV, Toriko walks around with light emanating from her. Seems like she can pick Toriko out from a crowd too.

Yeah, but "she's so plain, unlike Toriko", obviously! lol

Toriko was so cute in this chapter though, I love her.

I've seen gay panic before, but this is some of the gayest and most panicky it's ever been.

Poor Kozakura, having to deal with those two gay idiots. Toriko just standing and staring was so much better than what I had imagined
and soon the epic moment:
「おっ……」
 お?
「おっぱいかわいいね……空魚……」
 世界が動きを止めた。悪い意味で。

Ah I loved this chapter in the LN and this is great in the manga too!

Haha that made me giggle.

Toriko isn't even trying to be subtle!

Sorawo wondering why Toriko is staring at her and then having a page-long internal monologue about Toriko's beauty will never not be funny to me.

Sorawo is a special kind of dense and we love her for it!

Something that stuck out to me is how willing Kozakura was to have that conversation with Sorawo. It speaks to both the incredibly relaxing effect of a hot bath of course, but also her continued opening up emotionally to Sorawo and Toriko, Sorawo especially. She really cares and it's so sweet :)

Also lol @ "Naked or not, Toriko's beauty always makes me feel confused, so I just have to act the same as always." Sorawo continues edging ever closer to that big gay revelation

Toriko.exe had a catastrophic crash. Please reboot your lesbian.

Meanwhile Sorawo and Tarakuza basically admitting they're masking autists.

Lmao I love this arc.

Sorawo's definitely some flavor of neurodivergent, but it's almost impossible to pick out clear categories when she's got so much shit going on in her head. Like, this is someone who was fully ready, as a child, to murder her own family to escape what they were putting her through, and has so badly maladapted to living through that that she genuinely doesn't even recognize that story as upsetting when she tells it to other people. I find that part of her particularly relatable tbh, I definitely had moments as a young adult, before I'd properly started to deal with things, where a friend would ask me a casual question about my childhood, I'd answer as if it's no big deal, and they'd look at me with horror like I just told them a graphic war story.

I somehow forgot that it was actually spelled out as a theory that Sorawo was haunted by the specter of Satsuki because she hated her so much

They still haven't updated it here but they missed a page

Looking again at the first few chapters, it's cool how much the artwork has improved

I'm really curious what that Tall Red Person is. They seem to have targeted Sorawo more than once. After all, it's implied that it's responsible for the death of the entire cult that Sorawo's father and grandmother were a part of. Notably it's also Red, a colour in stark contrast to the blue of the other side. So if silver is the intermediate state and blue is the other side become "more" blue the deeper you go, then what is red?

Sorawo says that she thinks her past is nothing special, but this is a girl who created a "cult survival persona" inside her head just to get through the horrors inflicted by her own family. It's clear from an outside perspective that her past has had a huge impact on her, but she can't see it. Some of that certainly comes from the "doesn't everyone deal with something like that when they're growing up?" attitude, but also a lot of it I think comes from how she is extremely lacking in self-awareness.

Sorawo isn't so much "lacking self awareness" as she is "actively disassociating from her feelings". She's not just dense, she's mentally ill. Otherside Picnic is one of the only times I've actually seen a story acknowledge that particular kind of "denseness" is a common symptom of PTSD rather than just a quirky character trait that helps stretch out a plot. She's not a useless lesbian, she's a lesbian bearing cripplingly severe psychic wounds. This makes her imo a far more realistic and interesting character than a more common one who's merely "tee hee I don't notice when I'm gay and people are gay for me because I don't know how to be introspective! :P"

Oh my goodness Toriko...seems like she panicked and self-destructed when the mood started getting too intense. Can't blame Sorawo's density for this one. Oh these silly useless lesbians.

Sorawo claims to have made an effort not to ogle Toriko, but to what extent? Merely constantly stealing glances as opposed to the unblinking, slack-jawed stare that she'd direct at Toriko if she wasn't worried about ogling her?

She doesn't realize what that already says about her affections for her "partner." Her entire character/relationship was in that line.

Yup, she gives the whole game away with that line, but doesn't stop to realize she did, and presumably forgot about that thought. One of the many ways the author tells us not to take Sorawo's perspective and opinions at face value :)

Yeah, when it comes to her romantic (and even sexual feelings) she's consistently shown to be a massive unreliable narrator.

Not just that, she's an unreliable narrator for narrating any feeling. A lot of the time she seems trustworthy but then even for basic stuff like fear, her ability to describe the degree of feelings or any sort of nuance is very shaky. For example, she describes the beach at the end of the world in a way that sounds relatively "standard" for Otherside encounters, but they ended up so traumatized that they stayed in Okinawa until they stopped having very literal PTSD attacks. She explicitly claims to have no real problem with shooting threats that look and act completely like real humans, and then goes on to have nightmares about them for a week.

... And now to not address that bath conversation again for half a hundred chapters, I imagine.
