I think their relationship in all 4 chapters is great. I think the author's trying to establish that the kouhai really DOES understand her best and unlike the oh-so-perfect sempai, really cares about her. The main character is changing for the better, whether they stay together or not.

with the emphasis on trying.

The only chapter where blondie doesn't look like the maniac is this one, yeah, sure, it all seems to pay off in the end but honestly, what was so bad about her work-aholic attitude that she needed to change? A few shitty co-workers talking behind her back and some text-only neglectence of ones own beauty for a woman that never stopped being beautiful. Though holy shit, she does look better but that could just be the mood of the story
The flashbacks are far more subtle in showing her loneliness, being on the clock around christmas and not really having anyone to talk to.
So yeah, nice try, but that could have been so much better in the first three chapters already, the author either got feedback or just restrains their talent for no reason.

I guess that is expected when author is first writing porn and then for some reason decide to actually give it a plot and try to make us care (about more than just sex).

I think she was unwilling to assert herself or be herself. If the maniac was able to totally change her personality, she'd lose the woman she fell in love with, but I think that's unlikely. Anyway as many commenters said, Kouhai probably ended up going too far, which is why they aren't together at Christmas. It's not that they talked about the MC behind her back, it's that she had no respect at all, even self-respect, and they were willing to kill her with overwork. As long as she was willing to put up with it, they'd load all their work on her and goof off. so she's not even helping them be more productive.

The kouhai is a CLASSIC "Manic Pixie Dream Girl." If the MC were a male, most of the criticisms of the kouhai wouldn't exist. By nature, MPDGs have a certain amount of unreality to them. MPDGs barge into your life and teach you how to LIVE with their zany outlook and hyper energy, you workaholic hermit.

Well... I wrote a way-too-long comment lining why I though the whole "rape" interpretation is off and listed reasons and whatnot. But it's way too long (as I usually write with comments) to post if no one will read it plus it makes me seem like an over obsessed weirdo. If anyone wants to actually see it, tell me, but as it is it's way, way too long.

I've always though this series was very sweet and cute (ps. I've read it about five times now after coming back every now and then), if others can't enjoy it, their loss. I understand why you would dislike something if you perceived rape in it.

i dont understand the story at all.... is the mc having sex with that jinnai girl in chp 3 or what ? then in chp 4 she is alone at christmast go in to office then suddenly at hotel with kawamura ?? huh ? is kawamura only imagination girl or ?
