I really love that Tatsubon and Nio Nakatani are aware that sex is a normal part of the vast majority of healthy relationships. It's obvious that they understand that it's possible to feature these scenes WITHOUT their works being labeled as hentai and don't shy away from that.

Other Mangaka could really learn from their example...

I feel kinda of weird that I'm having a lot of feelings about this meme about anime girl sex lmao, but like, it really has been a long fucking time. The first chapter here was uploaded in the last two days of 2018. It's been like, 3+ years since then, as I imagine other people have, I've been following this manga since the first chapter.

I've moved through life stages in that period of time. A whole pandemic hit us, lingered, and has now started to taper while this manga has been running and these two have been doing their thing. and I guess the fact that they've crossed a boundary line that we might never have expected this series to cross (it could have just stayed with emotionally horny teenagers combusting from making sustained eye contact) feels kinda... i dunno, profound. something about that, about a routine that you start to take for granted, and then a shift into new territory that you might have imagined but couldn't really have predicted... there's a reflection there, you know?

It's a time when things have felt pretty stagnant, and this post provides a sense of a long journey, taking years to get from point a to point b, and somehow that makes me think back on the past three years and realize that even though things have sort of seemed the same on a week to week or month to month basis, a lot really has changed.

i dunno. Maybe I'm overthinking it all. but I think there's something special about watching a work unfold chapter by chapter over the course of years. And I think that's pretty cool.

I binge read this series some time before the first NSFW chapter was released and have been following it since. I feel like it always had a bit of a "cheap hentai", as some people mentioned, undertone (?), so it's not really surprising, but it's also not the way I would have liked these scenes to be depicted. Idk, I guess I just don't like it when sex scenes in manga are so over the top, it feels a bit silly and fake (though I have definitely seen far worse).

I kinda can't deny that there were these sort of "horny teenagers" jokes all the time in the course of the series, so the exaggerated expressions and such were to be expected I guess, but I still can't say I like it much. It's like I'm seeing the same tasteless dialogue of every boring NSFW doujin ever. It's not terrible, but it's not particularly good or interesting either.

Edit: Also I think for me I'm not really concerned about the "quality" of the sex scene(s) for this series I guess...? I simply think it's nice that these characters I care about and have followed for so long have reached this point of their relationship.

After how over the top Sakurako's reactions were from just looking into Kageko's eyes for too long, I'm shocked anyone would expect their first time having sex to be anything less than that. It's clearly an intentional stylistic choice on the author's part.
