Perhaps I had been hasty in declaring this theme to be rare. Although it seems that most works of the kind are somewhat older. It could be that the topic has fallen out of interest in recent years instead of being unexplored.

In that sense the first one falls in line with that, but "The Female Body" was definitely closer to what I seek. It was quite nice. Thank you very much.

....shrimp mayo? Could it be? I had nearly forgotten about this one. It was one of the first yuri manga I had ever read.... and it was already considered old at that point. To finally see it again after so long is beyond nostalgic for me.
Now that I am so deeply involved with the genre I can truly see how much it is marked by its era. The approach to yuri back then was so different. I love it so much and yet I feel it was constricted by circumstance.

It may not exactly have been what I was asking for, but this may well be the luckiest outcome. I'm grateful.

Not at all! Would highly encourage folks to share stuff from off-site, since many (like myself) will miss most things not posted here.

Stories about the two partners in a "group" (HS classrooms/colleges/friends group etc) falling in love and trying to keep it secret from the rest, but they secretly found out and their reaction to that (positive, like SonoHana 11 or negative, like A Love Awakened by a Kiss, both are very welcomed) and the couple's reaction to the fact that everyone already knew and are supporting/disgusted...
a love awakened by a kiss is really my gold standard ^^, the story, art, hasumi and ririko are all so wonderful

Reading the lastest Sora x Haena afterstory has me wanting more Tsundere x Tsundere romance. Anyone have a good series or oneshot they like?

Just caught up on this one. I suspected they would get together but yikes!! I wish I was told I would need to put the a/c on after that one shot.

I also just finished Serenade. It was pretty crazy and frustrating in some moments but overall I liked it. I wish though, the ending was extended by at least another chapter, I hate when they end at the last kiss or hug with an entire story clearly showing some timeskip or some will they won't they bs for an entire run. Not sure how I feel recommending it but, there it is lol.

So. I've been reading the Maria-sama ga Miteru light novels and I just realised that some of the final volumes aren't available/fully translated on Baka-Tsuki. Is there any other translation available anywhere?

BUT, anything with strong friendship bonds (even if the setting isn't similar to Marimite) is welcome. And yuri is also welcome if set in a school with a sœur system.

Though I cannot offer an exact copy of the sœur system, I have recently played through the 3 translated Flowers games on Steam (I do not know if links are allowed, but you could search for the developers "Innocent Grey").
They are visual novels that center around the relationships between girls at an Christian all-girls boarding school in Japan. In that school they have an "amitié" system, which is basically the sœur thing except for girls of the same year. More or less a friendship like bond that turns the girls into platonic partners for their entire school time.
Sorry if this may disappoint, but it is entirely explicitly Yuri. Nontheless the setting and tropes are very strongly inspired by the old Class-S era of Yuri (which it thankfully subverts).

My interest in Class S actually started because of its heavy hold on yuri. I find it quite intriguing to explore the history of the genre itself, and —though at times it can be awfully frustrating— I'm interested in seeing how female relationships were viewed.

But I can't deny that I also quite enjoyed reading about platonic relationships. I've read so much yuri for the past couple of years that I seriously need something different sometimes lol

I guess I may try the visual novel you recommended. I don't mind that it's yuri, since it has a setting so similar to what I described. Besides, having the same tropes subverted will be interesting to seeing how yuri works have evolved, it'll be fun to compare it to Marimite.
