My Japanese isn't amazing so I might be missing some pop culture reference to a character named Kotetsu or it's a reference somehow to the famous swordsmith, but I think it's just a cute, random name.

Kotetsu is a fairly normal Japanese name like naming it Kevin or something in English. If the original uses the usual characters (古鉄 - old iron, scrap iron), it could also be a nod to the food being burnt - as in it's "rusty" or just "scraps".

Yeah, it can get kinda...awkward. I can't say I've kept up with any of my former girlfriends, although I do have common friends with some of them so I'll hear things from time to time. That's one of the things with being gay, your social circle can get kinda ''concentrated'' (^^)

I like to think that they just simply don't end up together again. Things happen, relationship don't always work out and that's completely fine, I think it's what makes it worth it when you find someone who is perfect for you. I mean they broke up for a reason right? It just doesn't feel right for them to continue like nothing (atleast in this context).
