Seems like the Otaku just used her (like she said, for her pretty face). So there was no hope to begin with. Meh.
Pretty much coupled with the lack of a good introduction to her snatching away her notebook just screws up the eventual chance to actually develop in the relationship in any way. To be honest this could have been a nice wholesome series if only the two weren't being so aggressive towards each other. It just looks like they both wanted to keep their own pride intact without even trying to apologize for what they have done wrong. Sure if the mangaka had gone through some form of bullying in the past then she might not hold the best impression of the MC nonetheless, she could at least try to hear her out first. Though that is not to say that the MC herself hadn't already screwed up her own first impression with the way that she had acted. Damn mate...
Nonetheless this was a great read.
To me, it's very realistic of how teenagers would react and behave towards each other, especially teenagers who come from different social circles/cliques (gyaru vs. otaku). There's heavy implications that otaku was bullied in the past for her yuri manga (look at her dialogue on page 7), so perhaps that's why she was defensive towards gyaru. And gyaru, being a teenaged mean girl, acted exactly like that upon initially finding out about otaku's manga.
I think, if anything, this is a life lesson for the two of them. Otaku seems to have moved on and seems to have a stable career in drawing in the present, not really thinking too much about the past. Gyaru, on the other hand, is still caught up and feels guilty for what she said and treated otaku, and the takeaway for her is to not pre-judge another person and insult the things they're passionate about.
So yeah, this was a great read. I hope we see more of this stuff because--while the dramatic, fluffy, etc. stuff is nice--sometimes realistic works are nice, too.
