The chapter was worth the wait. I am really curious now what phase four is going to be like since I considered the previous stages pretty extreme. I do like how Marika has gotten kinder with her words.
Of course, the girl who kisses her out of the blue had to be a foreigner. Only a foreigner would do that.
"In America, it's a greeting"
Still, the portrayal of lesbians in this is pretty ambiguous. The porn angle is a bit too pronounced for a romcom. It's like it doesn't know what it wants to be: A romcom? A lecture about how gay people feel? With a dose of ecchi/kinky to arouse the readers?
The first two books of the light novel are available translated with a third book that came out like a month or two ago. It doesn't shy away from the smut, but it has some real sweetness and it's a little heart warming. It's an enjoyable read if you're interested.
I really wish she had told Aya that the cute blonde foreigner girl kissed her.
I'd have loved to see Aya's reaction.
"So I am doing the hard work, I am toiling my ass off to get her into lesbianism, I am sweating blood and tears to get the job done, and then Astarotte comes and tries to reap the reward of my labor? Where's my kunai? Time to shank a gaijin bitch!"

I very much enjoy her feeling guilty about this, though, as this shows her at least subconsciously considering it cheating on Aya, once again demonstrating how much she's actually fallen for her already.
I do think the series is struggling to find a balance between goofy lesbian good times and serious view of lesbian culture/ I think it's possible to strike that balance, but none of the ideas in this chapter really hit until the end of the chapter. But still a really fun read.

Do be aware that the translation's kinda shit though. Very stilted and literal, and constantly flips between past and present tense seemingly at random

All true. I've learned to live with unprofessional translating at this point, though. There's too much good content out there that I would otherwise be unable to read at all. Just keep in mind that they have put a lot of effort into providing you with a product for free.
