Hahahaha! I recently got the news from my mother that I have a lesbian cousin. The bad news? She's from "that side of the family", my aunt is one of the most useless human beings in existence and couldn't be bothered to raise her...well, she can't even take care of herself.

I also found out how other things which made me both angry and sad. Holy shit! My family is fucked beyond belief! How the hell do we even function!?

Sadly I don't follow groups through discord so that' gonna be thought, basically all my reads will be here or just shonen mangas from mangaplus now

Time to catch up on my manga backlog, I suppose. If I can get through it all before they get the site back up, I can give myself the illusion of being up to date with the latest releases for a few days...

Shilling for Sora & Haena, a very wholesome and cute Korean webcomic. It features the kinda cliché "Honor Student x Delinquent" couple but the main characters' relationship is still pretty great, especially considering the developments happening in the last couple of chapters. Also I kinda feel bad that I accidentally read the entire thing on a pirated website; I thought they were done by an actual scanlation group and found out it was an actual official translation after finishing it.

Majority of manhwa on unofficial sites are rips of official scans, though some groups do TL it themselves. I also read a bit of this particular story on mangadex. I had some issues with premise itself, but characters were very likeable.

So I ended up on the Only One Name TV Tropes page the other day, and was surprised to see that the Real Life section only mentions one mangaka, when there are literally hundreds of examples of monopseudonymic (pseudomononymic?) artists on Dynasty alone. Hell, there are even some who use numbers as pen names. (Though that's a different trope.) Just throwing this out there in case anyone here feels like editing it...

Also, I've noticed that the trope tends to be inverted by mangaka adopting extra names when they go "legit": Taiyaki, for example, has become "Nakamura Taiyaki" for the purposes of official English editions. Even though that's not a proper Japanese name at all, being the equivalent of something like "Cornish Pasty Johnson".

In that case, I think it was because there were other artists working under that name or a similar one, it was adopted around the Yuri Drill anthology. I wonder if it's kind of a pain on the administrative side to not have a (even pseudonymous) surname too. Personally, I'm kind of surprised mangaka would try the [company] [food] thing at all - Taiyaki probably won't get in hot water with a certain food conglomerate even given the WcDonalds-y setting of Yuru Oyako, but I've always wondered how Morinaga Milk got away with it...

Like a true prophecy, now my left ear feels like it's going to explode. I did NOT mean physically when I wrote that!

TL; DR because I don't want to write the whole thing: don't put ANY kind of foreign objects inside your ear canal. Even if you don't hurt your eardrums, you can(and will eventually) damage the skin inside your ear. I have no idea if this is permanent, I need to check with a specialist now.

While looking for a way to turn off Twitter's clickbait suggestions (sadly, impossible), I discovered that it maintains a list of my interests based on my viewing history. Since that history consists almost exclusively of various manga artists, I was quite surprised to discover that I'm also interested in such diverse topics as Aretha Franklin, suits, college basketball... and cheese. Their algorithms are clearly in need of improvement...

I like politics so they recommend me every single Elon Musk tweet. I only use Twitter for manga nowadays, too. Please make it stop.
