I feel like we're in a golden age of lesbian escort service stories. This is a pretty good addition to the growing genre- the art, excepting a few cases of breast flotation syndrome, is godly; the characters are interesting and relatable, and the ending is optimistic without being too saccharine.

I particularly loved the multi-layered Cinderella parallels with Ringo- the nightly mystique of the escort service is her version of the ball, but she also becomes a true princess after finding her prince (and Kobayashi's definitely gotta be loaded to afford all those sessions). Time and time again, she constructs her own fairytale persona, but true love is found when she reveals her real self to the persistent prince and is graciously accepted. The name of the hotel that they confessed their feelings in also being Cinderella made me chuckle, though.

That was very pretty, but the drama seemed kind of forced. If she was only in that job to let loose and de-stress from her daily life, then I don't understand the angst at the end. She found someone special she could be with when she eventually quits the job, but acts more like she's owned by the place.

Also I would suspect is is against labor laws to forbid them to date. What you do in your private time does not concern your boss.

That was heartwarming. I'd like to think now that they know their feelings for each other, Ringo will just retire sooner to be with Kobayashi.

All of this. It was a cute one-shot, lovely art, but I just can't wrap my head around this idea of "THERE'S NO WAY WE CAN BE TOGETHER!". Especially when it was just something she was doing for fun. She wants to wear sexy clothes and the like? She should simply leave the job and dress up in sexy clothes for her girlfriend. The way the story is framed there's no reason for her to continue working there and continue denying herself of the relationship she wants more than anything.

The series framing it as this kind of tragic tale...just feels divorced from logic and reality to me, all for the sake of the author wanting it to be bitter sweet.

Edit: Just this idea bothers me, of "Oh no I have to wait for the love of my life to come to this room, otherwise we can never see each other". You realize you're not a sex slave right? You're a free woman who can do whatever the hell she wants.

This is cute but it really gives off strange slavery vibes even though she is doing it for fun. I guess most of these limitations are just in her head - or she simply doesn't have enough confidence.

Not against the law to blacklist a customer.

Though I agree, the drama seems forced in the end.

The drama is not forced, she is afraid of dating her, not of breaking the rule.

She is afraid that their relationship wouldnt be able to survive the real World, she Hayes her Day job and their current feelings are being assisted by Them only meeting in arrificially more intimite situations. Additionally they cant just test it out because if they start dating kaboyashi Will be blacklisted so there is No security/rebound, she would have to quit her job to date her.

I'm honestly suprised that Japan of all places has a Chinatown district.

How does that work? Do they have a little Italy too. I'm very confused. I thought 95% of the Japanese population was well Japanese, how are there enough immigrants for such a disttict?

https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2420.html

"Japan has three, relatively large Chinatowns (中華街, Chūkagai): one in Yokohama, one in Nagasaki and one in Kobe. All of them originated as residential areas of Chinese merchants, who settled around the ports that were first opened to foreign trade after the end of Japan's era of seclusion in the late 1800s or earlier.

Today, Japan's Chinatowns are tourist spots and dining destinations, popular for their restaurants and "exotic" atmosphere, rather than residential areas of Chinese immigrants, although Yokohama's Chinatown, for example, is still home to several thousand residents of Chinese descent."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yokohama_Chinatown

"Yokohama Chinatown is the largest Chinatown in Japan (larger than Chinatowns in both Kobe and Nagasaki) and it is one of the largest in the world.[citation needed] There are roughly 250 Chinese-owned or themed shops and restaurants scattered throughout the district, with the highest concentration centered on a 300 m2 (3,200 sq ft) area."

Osaka has a Koreatown too: https://insideosaka.com/korea-town-tsuruhashi/

I doubt an actual Italian neighborhood, but in Tokyo years ago I found an indoor mall made up to look like an Italian village.

Although there's not much ethnic diversity, nearly half of all minorities in Japan are either ethnically Chinese or Korean. Another quarter are either Vietnamese or Filippino. So while overall diversity is not high, the diversity is concentrated in just a few ethnic groups, making those groups a sizeable enough demographic. The only non-Asian ethnicity with a sizeable population in Japan are Brazilians, so there is a "little Brazil", but not a little Italy.
