I really would be surprised if such a crazy good manga was forced to end abruptly.

^ The actual ending of the manga is just Mayuki writing about her polyamorous adventures in every paper, and the teachers passing her out of sheer respect. Mayuki then becomes a household name, and the educational system is overhauled to replace all subjects with lesbian training. It'd give a whole new meaning to the terms 'class topper' and 'bottom of the grade'.

Where can I read the raws?

…Oh yeah, that was one of Mayuki’s goals, wasn’t it. XD

It's remarkable how hard it seems to be to find a pace that satisfies most people. There must be a sweet spot somewhere between "Is this getting axed?" and "Oh my god will you just kiss already?" but I certainly couldn't tell you where it is.

The only manga in recent memory that I think most people here praised for its pacing was Still Sick. But as I recall, part of that praise was due to it flouting many of the "time-wasting" tropes we've become so used to. (I don't mean to downplay that, it was brilliant and one of my favorite manga in years.)

I find myself wondering what goes on behind the scenes. The publisher undoubtedly has a huge influence, but at the same time, surely someone like Canno, who just finished a (presumably) highly successful serialization, must have a not insignificant amount of sway as well?

I did find ch. 9 a bit speedy, at least in comparison to the pace so far. It could be that pressure is being put on Canno to hurry things up, but at the same time it's possible that she intended it to be that way. I'm very interested in finding out what the next two or three chapters are like.

Lol I guess she does all her studying between chapters?

Hmm… Chapter 10 isn’t the last one, but the development is still pretty damn fast. Whether we just finished the prologue or it will end next chapter is hard to tell.

Ah, fuck, I’m becoming anxious too now. >.>

The earliest place I can see this ending is once we circle back around to the first page of the series. I'd be delighted if it went further, but it's possible that the intended ending is around there.

However, there's also the possibility that Canno is rushing things, but not to the ending of the manga. She may actually be choosing to speed up herself, to get past the eventual getting-together. As others have pointed out, there's more to explore beyond that point. In romance manga the endgame is generally the characters confessing. That's not necessarily true here. There aren't many (if any?) mainstream manga about poly relationships, so Canno has a rather unique chance to write that story now.

(Also, I made a mistake in my previous post and confused Canno and Nakatani Nio. In my defense "Bloom into You" and "A Kiss and a White Lily" are both flower related and thus exactly the same shut up I'm not stupid you're stupid. My point about being a well known, successful yuri mangaka stands though.)

edit: also, I looked up what publication this is in. why does it feel like every. single. yuri manga runs in a shonen magazine?

I think AnoKiss is the series that started this trend, in fact… or maybe Sasameki Koto just before it. Then YagaKimi happened and there was no turning back. Dengeki Daioh has at least one other yuri at the moment, actually (though I haven’t read it).

Yeah it is ending ... https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2020-12-28/canno-gokaku-no-tame-no-yasashii-sankaku-kankei-nyumon-manga-reaches-climax/.167953 intended or not, it felt rushed no doubt, and maybe it wasn't well received not because it's polyamory but because Akira as a character wasn't handled well imo, I bet many people were okay with a triangle but just not with her... But that's my humble opinion, who knows!

Right there with you. For sure this felt like a 4 volume story, though. Hopefully Canno can wrap it up well enough.

To be fair, if Canno did get axed, then the story isn't exactly over- it's just truncated to a point where it ends at a certain date instead of following the original plan. This was one of my ongoing favourites, so I'm pretty bummed about it- it's rare to get a series that's well-written, innovative, charming and positively representational all at once. I do hope Canno doesn't give up on writing poly yuri after this- while there might not be a huge market for it, she seems hugely passionate about the genre, and you can see it in every page she draws.

Insert obligatory rant about Japan, shit taste and not having nice things here.

Agh, it's so disappointing to see this get binned this quickly. I'd love to say Canno should keep at these narrative themes, but if the demand isn't there it's hard to expect an artist to jeapordize their livelihood.

I'm upset too, but at least something charming and cute like this got to exist at all in Japan, for a short while. If America made a comic with this theme today it would be unappealingly drawn & chest-beatingly smug over its "serious realistic representation", thus far less fun... or it would just be plotless porn. The fact that manga like this can mix genuine emotion/drama AND idealized escapism this way is why it's great.

The final chapter came out yesterday. We’ll probably release chapter 10 and 11 simultaneously.

At least Rin got to settle some of her regrets from the past.

Welp. I was completely wrong. I guess I should have known not to get my hopes up.

Goddamn, how did something so good get axed so quickly? Do people just have shit taste or something? I honestly do not understand.
