Well they went with the yuri tag instead of the subtext tag, so I assume it gets more yuri later? Unless the only qualifier for the yuri tag was that opening groping chapter.
Why is it that whenever people draw girls with an art style that would work for like anime cats it’s just naturally charming? Like triangle mouth, or really rounded with sharpness in certain features like the chin? I feel this way about Konbu Wakame’s art too, it has this cute/pretty/mischievous quality that’s also able to go into other tone and stuff, or even be lewd, and yet seem wholesome.
I'm a bit behind the curve when it comes to technology, but do many devices these days have 4961 pixel tall screens? Because if not, those images could be significantly reduced in size without affecting their readability one iota. Not to mention that 32-bit-per-pixel PNG is absolutely the worst choice of format for greyscale images.
I think we're more into a case of "only six faces" and generic cuteness, the author just draw pretty girls by default since that's the only type draw.
I thought it obvious any number of the closely related tropes were also applicable.
That said these assertions of "plainness" have a tendency to read as mere self-esteem issues (as they're more often than not voiced by the character herself), which would hardly be unusual for teenagers in general and teenage girls in particular (for a laundry list of reasons), and/or purely relative as opposed to what usually gets translated as "flashy" which seems to just refer to girls who spend comparatively extensive time and effort on their appearance.
It always irks me somewhat when the translation doesn't match what's actually in the picture. Why is Mika-sensei (or Haruka-sensei, or whatever it's supposed to be), talking about a jacket when she clearly wasn't wearing one? Shouldn't that be "skirt"?
Also, I seem to be complaining about this series a lot, but actually it's quite fun, all things considered.
