I reread the manga and I completely ignored the part where Miyuki's parents are divorced and her mother committed suicided. I wonder if the parents found out and they divorced to keep the kids away and the mother couldn't handle it? The mother kept Miyuki and hence why Miyuki lives by herself. I really don't understand the reaction when Asuka told Miyuki that she doesn't look like her. Are they half siblings or not related at all. Is it a Citrus relationship
I am also interested in the woman Miyuki was with in Ch13.3 when Mizuno saw them. I wonder if it's a teacher due to the different outfit.

PS you can buy the new chapter on Amazon. Just type in Taiyaki manga. They are raws, but I bought it anyway to support Taiyaki. She said the more support she gets financially, the faster she will update. And come on! This story is so good. She deserves it.

I don't quite get that either. It's been a kind of a vague trope in other manga, too--if two "siblings" don't resemble each other, it's implied that they're not blood relations.

Which is weird to me, because I've known lots of real-life families where siblings didn't look like one other at all, and sometimes not like either one of the parents, either. (What's more notable are the couple of families where everyone really did look like they were stamped out with a cookie-cutter.)

Yeah, heredity being the kind of crapshoot it now is I don't think I personally know of very many cases of siblings looking particularly similar (one exception being my mother and one of her older sisters, who apparently sometimes get mistaken for each other by passing acquaintances). If anything it seems more common for them to clearly take after different sides of their parentage...

Then again there's a mild case of Amazing Technicolor Population at work in this series so eh.

The raws don't seem that easy to find... poking around jisho.org seemed to suggest おいしそう may have the right sort of blatant double meaning, but that is just guessing. Made me realise how tricky translation can be sometimes since I can't think of an exactly right English word ("delicious" needs context, and thus implies context. tasty, yummy also not quite).

Thank you, that answers the question bugging me: it was おいしそう.

Not disputing that delicious seems like the best translation and, as I mentioned, I couldn't think of a better English word for the spot even trying for implication without worrying about what the original was (and "sexy" is too far in the other direction). Implication is something that varies with social background even in the same language, so I'm not sure if there is a good solution. I suppose if the implication is different a translation note like for a pun might help.

Does oishisou in casual Japanese have a more obvious double meaning than delicious does in English?
I'm nowhere near familiar enough with Japanese to know (my impression was based on jisho.org entry feeling hot/sexy meaning was common enough to list, but then the same applies to delicious in English).
In English "delicious" for "sexy" tends to make me think of a leering dirty old man saying it, ie if your mind is already in the gutter, but that might be specific to my background.

"Eating someone" is a typically sexual statement in Japanese, and not just in the lesbian sense, so somebody looking delicious / like food / etc. obviously plays into that.

But it's not like those associations don't exist in the West so I really don't see why anyone wouldn't get what "delicious" conveys here.

I think it refers to a lot of effort compared to normal on the bento, that's my guess anyways.
