WOW!!! I think I actually heard my heart breaking while I read this. I knew I should heve skipped this one.

Superb atmosphere going on here. A big impact for such a short amount of pages, that's for sure.

That'll push a needle toward scary.
Itou Hachi usually makes pretty bittersweet stuff but this is on a whole new level. Well calling it emotional, that's an understatement...

Not especially? It's a pretty similar setup to a lot of Itou Hachi's work: Fox loli placed in a subservient position to a cold, distant woman, with the ensuing relationship being framed as romantic. This just changed the backstory

Welp, looks like Itou Hachi found the darkside. Next is loli in suitcase edition while getting chased down by the popos.

Itou Hachi can do no wrong.

It must be because our offerings have gotten lax...

So... Stockholm syndrom?

Not fully, she still have the thoughts of killing her, even if she can't pull the trigger to do so.

This wasn't a bad one-shot, but how can you take this serious in a 20 page one-shot. Nothing more than shock value

Personally, I found this one shot from Itou-sensei remarkably interesting. It just hit my taste and I can't wait for its sequel. The head-off scene was a bit unexpected to me, but that was what drove their relationship to extreme when it came to mutual feelings. But no matter what they were going to do, it would lead to somewhat corruption, because the characters were put in a dramatical dark situation. So it all comes down to whether it's going to be a fictional ending, or a realistic ending, depending on the author. Still, I will definitely enjoy it till the very last since it's Itou-sensei's work =]

Whoever stole Itou Hachi's lunch from the fridge, please give it back ASAP. It's making them all moody.

The Bad woman wanted redemption. But she knew she could never give back the life she had taken. So she gives the beastkin child a chance to kill her. Going so far as to tell the child that she is the only one that can take her life, that she is irredeemable, as a human.

I believe the theme here is that beastkin are subhuman that are target of destruction by the belligerent power attacking a neutral country.

This maybe the natural progression of history in the era Itou Hachi has chosen to draw and authour in.

Damn this was great. The juxtaposition of the cutesy moe characters and dark theme is wonderful. I’d love to see more works like this from hachi. A sequel for this one would be cool too

Also it's funny how people always said how all Itou's work have dark undertones, but Itou was carefully avoiding them and focusing on all the sweetness, but the implications of slavery and beastkin being inferior race to humans was there, but people simply didn't think too much about it and now they pretty much wrote a prequel series explaining how all of it started and pretty much confirming what everyone was thinking. Now you can't read any other of their works and see it as just sweet age gap relationship, without thinking about the dark world they live in. They had to have some real guts to write it. It really proves that Itou doesn't try to please anyone and just write whatever they feel like. I can't help but applaud them for it.

^Where did you get the idea of this story as a prequel to "My Master & Furry-eared Girl Mel"?

Em, mankind waging war at beastkins and conquering them? Explaining why they're treated like slaves?

^Okay, but these beast people and beastkins are completely different. Beastkins are female childelike hybrid breeds made to be servants/pets for humans. Beast people are just another race similar to humans with their country and culture.

Why does she doesn't want to kill her though..??

If I had to guess, it'd be because she's still shackled, which means biding her time until she's trusted enough to have it removed.
