Aira is not resisting her yuri urges too strongly. In fact she seems to lose to them resoundingly.
Looking forward to her not being in constant denial like most heroines.

Tsugu is a ball of fluff and airheadedness. I don't expect her to get a clue any time soon.

a few drawings in chapter two look very hentai-ish:

https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/pocha_climb_ch02#14
https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/pocha_climb_ch02#16

usually a sign that the story isn't going to be all that wholesome. hopefully it remains cute.

So low angle shot = hentai-ish.
Ok then lol

Mintarou's stuff always has a certain spastic quality to it. I love it.

At this rate Aria might die before she confess

Did you mean to say We're all gonna die of diabetes before Aria confesses.?

Also, in the first chapter, if you look closely in the panel when Tsugu talks to her unnamed friend, you can tell there are boys in the background. Shocking, I know.

I remember the time when we used to look for Yuri (or subtext?) in the background in mainstream anime/manga
Now we look for guys being represented in Yuri
Have we come full circle?

The intellectuals will ask : Is this manga subtext?

And yeah, I like how it only took a couple of panels for Aria to get through her mandatory "but we're both girls, this isn't a date" phase.

It's your typical fanservice at best.

Also what? Hentai can't be wholesome? Blasphemy!

Yeah, I mean, those shots are a bit sexy, but that's literally the joke on one of them.

@BugDevil

The only real trigger for me in this thread was

Wall climbing is just simply not something that can keep you engaged for long. After a year pretty much everyone can climb most courses.
First of all, don't get triggered so easily, thanks.
1)...
2)...

Okay, did my getting triggered get you? Don't understand that one. The part I left above is what I'd found incredulous. You basically reduced it to the complexity of "if you can shoot a ball, that's basketball." That's wrong. Yes, it's a niche hobby. No, I don't think anyone who's remotely interested in it will go Pro; I highlighted some complexity and that strong girls come out of it and (as a girl who trains with weights) I enjoy watching for both the flow and technical.

There is nothing wrong with injecting sport details in, considering that the author isn't hiding their intent to drag you into a very sport specific manga. If it turns into a hentai like someone mentioned or close to it, shame on them for springing it on us! Eeek! But anyway, maybe it will get someone curious about trying it. Wouldn't be the first time a manga sparked interest in whatever hobby/sport was represented.

I know you don't care, and that's fine. At the end of the day, we're reading stories on a site where we're (mostly) hoping for girls to get together in various ways. They're just using information overload on a very niche sport to do it.

This made me laugh! Oh, what a time we live in now!!

My eyes used to hurt squinting for the Yuri, and now it's just thrown in our faces at every turn. Occasionally, I get stuck on a sinking Yuri ship, but... what can I say, I like who I like :3

in my mind nsfw doesn't automatically mean something is porn/hentai.

there is plenty of wholesome yuri with sex scenes. those sex scenes dont usually have drawings of girls looking uncomfortable or pained. (like the pages i linked previously)

nothing wrong with hentai, even if its not stuff i would read, thats fine. but this author doesn't have anything else on ds, so i was wondering if maybe they draw porn.

even this page:
https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/pocha_climb_ch02#2
looks like it could be out of a lots of sex manga.

i immediately notice the difference between a drawing of a girl plopping in bed that is from the top like that, and basically any other angle. the one in pocha climb looks like shes perhaps been pushed into bed and you are viewing her from above. from the side, or even 3/4 view it would be significantly less "hentai-ish" to me.

edit: also this forum seems super combative lately. (not really specifically to my post, but just in general.)

She looks uncomfortable because the shoe is too tight or because Aira pushed on her toes which made them tingle.
Considering this 'unwholesome' due to that is not very logical, because you pre-suppose that these shots actually resemble hentai or are intended that way. Which is incredibly doubtful to say the least. Low angle shots are usually more fanservicey, but that's about it. It could have been done from every other angle with the same effect.

Furthermore we are seeing these moments from Aira's perspective who obviously would have a more distorted view on the situation.

Not to upset you or anything, but that is simply ludicrous. That pose and angle is used so frequently in all genres and all manga that assuming this has hentai-ish vibes says more about your perception than about the work to be honest. Instead of just overlaying your experiences from hentai with this shot composition, you need to also consider the context of the scene. There can be an element of sex appeal here (exposed midriff and dissheveled clothes), but the scene itself is about her exhaustion after the workout.
We see her whole body as it is, how she is twitching from aching muscles and how she is dissheveled because this was her first time doing something this straining in a while.

Am I overanalyzing this entire thing? Obviously. Are your interpretations off kilter? Most likely.

Someone says that literally every few weeks, so it has lost all meaning. I think everyone's perception is different and you just didn't notice it was the exact same way before.

Literally like half of mangakas started from drawing ecchi manga... hentai... porn, so it's pretty much non-argument.

Nah, it all depends on threads you read. Popular and/or controversial series have heated discussion all the time.

i didn't say this comic was not wholesome, nor did i need an explanation of why she looks uncomfortable.

to clarify, here's what i meant: i've read a lot of yuri, and i think the angles and poses this mangaka uses seem to be drawing from a style i've seen mostly used in hentai. personally, i don't react that way when trying on a shoe that is too tight.

i do think the panels i mentioned are, as you say, fanservice, and that's fine. that isn't inherently unwholesome. personally i don't tend to read much yuri that really plays up sex appeal because i'm in it for the story and characters and i find that kind of stuff distracting.

I'm not sure if their start was in hentai or not, but I do kind of get what you're saying here. They have a series available in English called DNA Doesn't Tell Us, which while mostly innocent cute fun, is full of fanservice. Every chapter has girls in positions that are drawn in a way that could just seem like pandering, not to mention the whole premise has girls turning into animals and then back to human, only with their clothes either completely gone or torn (with plenty of well placed branches/bubbles/etc), but like... it's really cute, not even PG-13. I get the feeling this author just /really/ likes drawing cute girls in cute poses doing cute things. That said, DNA also has a lot of info about animal behavior, which is comparable to how this one looks like it's going to be informative on bouldering/rock climbing.

The most blatant sex thing I've come across of Mintarou's was in the 5th issue of galettemeets, Galette's offshoot of more mature stuff, which involves a 6-page short where two girls are being intimate during a zombie outbreak at a school. It isn't very graphic.

You did however say that this looks hentai-ish and the kind of hentai that is unwholesome, even going so far as to say you hope it won't be that kind of manga, which means you considered it all the same.

That's a really bad logical leap.

Well, I also am not a big fan of fanservice, but this is tamer than a kindergarten playground right now, which is why comparison to hentai astound me so much. No pantyshots, no underwear in general, the picture of her upper angle on the bed is not really shown in a sexy light. If the author actually wanted to dial up the sex appeal she wouldn't have made that kind of face. Instead she would have been shown as sweaty, flushed and maybe even moaning in light pain. Aside from having her guard down, nothing about the shot is inherently sexual or played up for it.

Hm, this sounds a lot like someone ran out of arguments or ways to change the subject, but hey, we can end this conversation any time without making empty claims like that.
