Or maybe she's into menhera because she's been through some shit? Could easily go either way. I've always thought the line people draw between body modification and scars was a bit odd, but if you have the scars to begin with, then you're pretty much blocked off from a lot of styles. Seems pretty easy to be drawn towards menhera when it's one of the few aesthetics that 100% works with the body you've got, and most of the others require you to cover them up or pretend they aren't there.

That's true, ya got a point there. Was actually thinking about something along the lines of that shortly after my original post but i guess my bias made me wave the thought off. Thanks for bringing another approach to it to the table tho

Lots of conclusion jumping here...

There's nothing in the work so far that directly fetishizes or stigmatizes self-harm, at least not yet. All we've seen so far are two (homo)sexually active girls and one of them happens to have cutting scars.

I'll give the artist a chance to see what exactly they do with that particular part of the character.

I used to SI and I do have a mental illness and enjoy Menhera fashion, but one of the reasons why I like it is that it gives me a sense of control.

Hm. So that's a butch. I didn't know.. thought it was two dudes and questioned the "(it's Yuri)" in the title. Wow. And those cuts looks bad (not cool). Ah-ha! I got it.

I actually quite like this and think it has a lot of potential. The cuts--while unnerving--only make me more curious about Chiaki. What's her story? Are they scars from self-harm? Are they part of an aesthetic? Did she go through some shit and has learned to accept them as a part of herself or is she still struggling with them? And what does Kiri think of them? Does she have scars, too? What is these two's relationship and dynamics?

I dunno about you guys, but I think this is a good piece. There is certainly lots of potential, and it's about time we got some butch-butch representation on this site. Butch-butch relationships do exist in real life.

Though, I did have a laugh over the "165m" typo on page 1 for Chiaki's height. No amount of thick-soled shoes would make Kiri taller than Chiaki then!
