The southern US-ish dialogue makes me wonder what the original Japanese dialogue was, lol.

Also, neither of them washed their hands before leaving the bathroom...

Oh my gosh, I can't stop laughing at this

Also this was so cute! School girl yuri can get tiresome but I loved the way they were so honest and sweet to each other, in that phase of 'kinda flirting, kinda not'. Really nice read, thanks scanlators ^^

Isn't that usually how the Kansai dialect gets translated?

That credit page speaks to me in a spiritual level. "As long as you're here to". God, that line was so gay.

That's quite common, yeah. The southern US accent is usually the go-to for representing Japanese accents in translations, since it's easily recognizeable to most people, and also easy to convey in writing.

Since there's no way to tell what the original was, however, I always get curious when a character is translated as speaking with an accent. x)

I liked how they translated the father's accent in Flying Witch. It's not obviously a regional dialect (maybe rural British?) but gets the job done in showing how difficult he is to understand.

There's also that Love Live one that makes Nozomi sound more British too.

When I watched the Flying Witch anime (raws), I had a similar reaction to Makoto, lol. And you're right. The way they did it in that scanlation was very effective!

Edit:
Since I watched the raws of the anime, I'm curious how/if it was translated by fansubs?

From my trip there, and some of the stuff I read up on before and after it, pretty much yes. Using the Dynasty lewdness metre, they are pretty extreme. Both women holding hands with each other and men holding hands with each other all over the place. Scary really!

Then again, they are also of the opinion that homosexuality exists in other countries, but not in theirs of course. :p The irony is that it results in stuff like this being seen as perfectly normal and clearly no-homo. Yup. Sure...

As a Korean I can confirm that same-sex hand-holding is indeed rampant in Korea. So much gay for such a conservative country... everything's strictly no-homo basis, of course.
