@Nezchan
Maybe he's sensitive. This is like if someone got angry when it turned out that Rebecca Sugar used to draw RULE 34 pics of Terrytoons. Would you call them naive & ridiculous ?

Yes, I definitely would. No question.

Doubly so if they didn't hold men like, I dunno, Bruce Timm, to the same standard.

Worth noting that the initial responses were pretty mild "wtf dude" stuff, which he chose to escalate.

"Reevaluate your life priorities" and "Not sure if trolling or just stupid" doesn't seem like mild responses to me.

I think the reactions are expected. I mean, he even came from other thread just to say that.
One thing is to say: "I don't like this manga and this author anymore". No one cares, but okay.

But when you call a beloved artist in a community "perverted rape hentai artisit", then you're asking for it.

Why are you even trying to argue ? What's funny about these so-called discussions, it's that everyone turns a deaf ear to what the other is saying, rather than trying to constructively debate. And I'm not having anyone in mind here.

Writing your thoughts on a sheet of paper, folding it and discarding it into the trash would have the same effect.

You should reevalutate your life priorities if a manga that was released before said mangaka even started officially as a yuri artist is enough to make you want to quit the genre.

The entire post in the first place is either hilariously bad trolling or genuine contempt, which, read the above.

For real, dude? We can all look back at page 1 of the discussion and see that those came after he escalated following the mild responses. And really, "reevaluate your life priorities" in response to tossing out an artist's whole body of work upon finding they did something you don't approve of early in their career does sound pretty reasonable.

Remember that we can actually read for ourselves and check how things happened.

When I found out that Edmund McMillen made a game about shooting vaginas with penises, I really couldn't enjoy Super Meat Boy anymore.

Pussy, KZ Manager Millenium and Ethnic Cleansing are some real games.

Really doesn't help when the reasons given are quite ambiguous. Especially when one mangaka is excused for the completely arbitrary fact that he's a guy who, as far as I'm aware, still writes the hentai that he's infamous for to begin with which is not the case with Morinaga Milk.

So I just re-read the manga, there was only 1 actual rape scene, one magic illusion of said scene, 1 tentacle scene (probably deserved it), about 3 - 4 het scenes (2 of which pertain to Mea), everything else was yuri.

The story wasn't even bad, it reminded me of Jigoku Shoujo in that a majority of the bad things that happened did to those that deserved it; plus it ended with Tsukiko and Mea being together (not to mention they were both willing to sacrifice something to save eachother, Tsukiko sacrificing her life for Mea, and Mea using all of her servants to save Tsukiko in return)

Tell me how is this unacceptable again?

I loved Girlfriend so much when I first read it but now after years of reading yuri I have to say it's not as great anymore in my eyes and that's exactly why it didn't get an adaption: There was nothing going on in it except the makeup and the characters are a bit onesided I feel like. But totally agree, it would still be smth I recommend to a first time yuri reader. Otherwise I'm not at all a fan of this author, quite the opposite.

Girlfriends was the first yuri manga I read, and a few years later I still think that not only is it the best, it is possibly the only romance story that I ever fully bought into. That slow buildup, putting on makeup and trying on clothes together, just earnestly having fun together, it felt so wonderful and believable. So many stories where I don't understand why the two partners even like each other, or I find them and their declarations of love annoying and pretentious (99.9 percent of het romance stories I've seen tbh) and I finally find one that resonates with me and makes me think "That's so nice. I'd like to have something like that too" That's why Girlfriends is my personal favorite manga of all time. It may use cliches, but it maximizes their effectiveness.

And I really hope UlquiorraSchiffer1 isn't serious that's just crazy, but on the subject of the "Men think more lewd thoughts" idea, my sister believes this and hates pornography to the point where she dumps guys who watch it

I don't think they are. At least by said sister.

Not surprising, women have long been taught to not enjoy sex and thinking about sex. Which is where you get myths about men being more sexual, because it's socially acceptable for them to be.

Not unless they're fool enough to turn it on while she's in the room. Which unfortunately her current/ex(it's complicated) boyfriend did. All the time

An ex of mine is very much into lewd yaoi and being in a relationship doesn't keep her from reading it. On the contrary it gives interesting results in term of horniness.

Long story short, every couple/relationship set their own rules. If they can't agree it's time to end it.

I'm pretty sure that if you looked up the definition of "internet forum" in the dictionary you'd find that it's a synonym for "battlefield".
