The ending makes sense given the historical setting, but I do wish that they could have somehow overcome that... There are so many stories like this already.

Cute, but as much as I like the Maculine Dashing Lesbian™ character type (Sakiko isn't masculine, per say, but she does have the behaviour of a het shoujo male love interest) I have to admit that sometimes those characters are so charming and perfect that they go into Mary Sue territory. I'd like to see more Masculine Dashing Lesbians that have a dorky or easily-flustered side. A good example of a well-rounded Masculine Dashing Lesbian is Yuki from Holy Girl Paradigm. Other than that and the excessively flowery language (I know it's historical but surely people didn't talk like that even back then), this was sweet. The main character was cute and the art was nice.

Ha! I have read so much yuri with bad endings I developed a sixth sense for yuri that will have a bad ending. On the second page my bad ending sense was tingling, and when I looked at the historical tag and the drama tag I just came straight to the comment section.
