I got no idea why so many people complain.

My reasons:

parody with over the top yuri fan
wall of text

I simply dislike parodies because of all the clichés they cram into it. Making fun of something by doing the exact same thing to mock it doesn't make good entertainment to me. Making it about yuri isn't going to make me like it more.

Walls of text become blended words when trying to read them at 3 in the morning. I don't hate walls of text, but that's because they are usually presented far and few between, so it doesn't feel like you're reading them every other page.

Being a girl who loves almost all things yuri. . .I can see why some people here see the MC as creepy. They see male being stalker and crazy obsessed, but focus waaay too much on the fact the person is male. Truth is, male or female, anyone who does what the MC does is a super saiyan 4 creepier. I admit, I'm like only a super saiyen 2. Haven't developed that ultra super power of shipping people irl yet. . .

Oh and does "Danshi" translate to anything?

Boy/Young man, according to my google-fu

Danshi is usually used in context of "male". So Yuri danshi is supposed to mean something like "Male yuri fan" as opposite to Yuri Joshi (Female yuri fan) that doesn't exist ;x (I mean term, not people)

Didn't have time to properly read it yet, just glimpses through pages, but this is so hilarious. I got no idea why so many people complain. All I see is simple parody with over the top yuri fan, that goes too much into it. Well wall of texts are kinda discouraging and even If there isn't any real yuri couples, isn't the point of this series to watch how MC is making fool of yourself by over-analzying girls' relationships? And btw. didn't he hit it with last girl, that did kiss her pinky at the end?

I think, more than anything, people dislike it because it's already five volumes long, when the entire joke is basically complete with these first two chapters. It's a gag manga centred around a protagonist who has no characteristics or personality beyond him being an intense yuri otaku. That's the joke. There are no other jokes. He references a bunch of classic shojo ai, elaborately ships his classmates, steps out too far in treating "real world" girls like fictional characters and gets punched out for it, and it would be basically fine if it just ended there. Stretching it out into this long protracted thing with nothing actually happening and little new material to work with is plainly a bad idea.

Edit: Um, was this post edited by a mod to add the spoiler tags, or did I somehow manage to do it myself without realising? I mean, I'll leave it alone, in case I am being spoilery about something and I'm being too dense to notice it, but I'm a bit confused.

My complaint is that there's no actual story. Just random winks at the readers.

Honestly I don't think you can add progressing story in this kind of comedy. It is kinda like a 4-koma. Just instead of 4 panels, it takes 1 chapter to set up the joke and make a punchline. At least that is the impression I got.

There is definitely some kind of story/tension as series move on.

Second season is of it is being released

A little while back, I saw two girls in their late teens wearing matching dresses in the mall, and I found myself wondering if they were a couple... Does that make me a super saiyen 3 creepier? Or was that not actually shipping them?

I'll admit I didn't find this very interesting and just skimmed through the last part of chapter 2. (Plus I never found it interesting when looking through my copy of Yuri Hime.) I guess I'll wait and see how it goes, but I won't be volunteering as the editor. I do hope someone steps in to edit it.

This comment section is the biggest trainwreck I've ever seen on this site. What I've got out of it is that Uso Kurata, a great Yuri artist poking fun at himself and fanboyism in gerneral in a friendly way, is a self-hating, man-hating, cringe-worthy transgender super creepy stalker who objectifies women. Oh, and 4chan and Tumblr are bad and MEN ARE VICTIMS AND I AM PROUD TO BE A MAN. Have I covered everything?

Its a parody. Uso Kurata does not stalk women. Its an overblown parody of the way yuri fans (with the yuri glasses :P) read yuri into everything. The dude probably ships his food. I guess you can say its tasteless to joke about stalking but considering its both roasting the stalker and a freaking metaphor I have a hard time seeing it. And yes, the main character is construed as being a creep/loser. That's the joke. It's a (self-)roast. He's poking fun at himself. Its self-deprecating. Anyone who thinks this manga is somehow attacking male yuri fans or men in general has a victim complex the size of the moon. That is all.

One thing that bothers me is that there's too much thoughts/words from the protagonist which gets my brain lazy to read dammit

I'll give it props for being different than the usual fare here. But totally not my thing. As a lesbian, if there were some random guy obsessing about my relationship in real life, I'd find that beyond creepy. But this is a work of fiction and I'm not the target audience, so I'll just skip reading it in the future. It has fun references though.

People relating to fiction by way of their own real-life experiences? How ridiculous!

As usual, the comments here are a disappointment to me. Especially comments to the effect of "this is the industry showing that it thinks yuri is silly!" A lot of yuri IS silly and unrealistic, in many ways. Though there are many exceptions (I pause here to make the holy "Sign of the Morishima"), a lot of yuri in no way reflects the actual lives, experiences, and relationships of women-loving women. That the creators of such types of yuri works do realize that, and can self-deprecatingly lampoon their own delusions, is a good and healthy thing.

I will admit that this premise might have been best left to a short serialization; five volumes of this is probably too much. On the other hand, there was clearly demand, and don't begrudge Kurata Uso or Yuri Hime for making the best of it. Doing so can only help the magazine to continue to produce "real" yuri, although I certainly personally can't escape the feeling that Kurata's great talents are going to waste here. His credentials as a great artist of genuine yuri works are, to my mind, beyond reproach.

Still, I found it funny, topical, and very self-aware. Keisuke is a very relatable figure in many ways, though in his youth and innocence he broke the cardinal rule: "Never bother women, especially by presenting yourself self-importantly as an ally." However, he realized his mistake, and hopefully will guide himself by it in future.

All of these comments are really interesting, I still havent made up my mind about the series as a whole but the first 2chs were decent...but anyway im commenting for all the male yuri fans here - I have no preconceived notion that guys cant get into yuri, or need to hide themselves or disguise themselves on forums like these, be free yuri fans of the world!! Lol ^_^

I do however have a problem with yuri that is blatantly geared towards males...ya know cuz im all uhh that has no appeal :P

Rofl I wrote that like 3 in the morning don't know what the fuck I was thinking, though the first 2 parts hold true to my feelings.

Buuuuut, you're a 2.5, not a 2 anymore or 3 yet. Unless you took the people in real life and crammed them into some fantasy world you made up in your head at the time, you're not being THAT creepy.

To those that have to express their disinterest here (for whatever reason), if it helps you understand, this is a reason why I, and perhaps others, like this manga, is because it seems to be executed like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDpblJ44YG4

The monologues and over-the-top theatrics and execution are the entire character and charm of the manga. To say you'd rather not have the long walls of text is to not have the entire manga. Of course, it's fine not to like it or whatever, but that would be like me going to the Love/Death forum and whining that "it would be great without the fight scenes!"

Obviously, this kind of delivery wouldn't be great for most other yuri manga, but I think it's a unique enough perspective that having it (as it is so far) is worth the attention. :)

That video was . . . awesome! I gave up on this series after the first episode. This almost makesme wanna go back.

And I agree with much of what you said.
This is just silly. Which isn't enough for me most times. A lot of the humor in anime bores the crap out of me. Manga often fairs a little better, oddly enough, and while this wasn't lol funny it kept me mildly amused throughout.

I donno if the premise is good for a long series.

I know the pain of animes where the yuri is even less than subtext. Very irritating.

I do like to see more males in yuri. It seems to me one reason there isn't more is just because the cast of these stories is small but I'd like to see more. In various roles. Brothers. Fathers. Just diversity, you know?

I don't feel this male is a nefarious representation of the male yuri fan. Just seems like the author trying to be funny.
I certainly do not see him as a representation of me. I doubt my opinion of a good yuri even matches his all that much.

also
> how is this not yuri? That one girl is clearly into a girl. We can't even say her romance is over considering we don't know if the girls she is/was after is unavailable, though she did seem like a one time character.

I recently happened to see two teen (16/17 yo) girls on the bus, one sitting in the lap of the other, arms wrapped around the waist, because the bus was crowded. I found them cute and I toyed with the idea that maybe one of them was seeing the other as more than a friend. That's when you realizes that you read too much yuri manga.

Or they actually were a couple.

Doubt that. The one in the lap was happily chatting on phone with some guy I think. She sounded just like your average teen, though I didn't really listen the conversation.

It's just the expression and attitude of the other one that flipped my yuri switch. Just looking dreamily in the distance, with her arms around the other one's waist.

The reason this appeals to me is that it's a pretty fresh take on a common trope. Every other manga seems to have a fujoshi (BL fangirl) who monologues incessantly to herself about just how pure and beautiful the love between two men is, waxing poetic about how there can be no place for a woman in such a fragile rose garden, but this is the first time I've actually seen the reverse; a male yuri fan obsessing over the love between girls on the same level as the most obsessive of yaoi-fangirls! It's kinda refreshing.

On the other hand, I did find it kinda ridiculous how he was totally okay with his little sister finding regular porn, whereas yuri would have been SCANDALOUS! It's probably just him being overly conscious though.

I think he is really a creep. But the manga looks fun. Soo I will read it. Still skipping most dialog. Because I think it goes sometime a little bit 2 far.
