Funny, that's one thing I tend to dislike about them. The lack of context increases my perception that most of them are basically a way to insert het sex into a lesbian story without including any actual guys (because no homo for the male reader, natch).

Plus, if it's a talented artist or a good story (like this one or the KonaKaga ones Celtrance did), I want the reasoning for why they made such a radical change to the character to be part of the narrative. It's like you're missing part of the storytelling process, which is something I notice when it's otherwise a good story.

The romantic side of this one and the fact that there's a lot less emphasis on dick than a lot of futa stuff helps a lot, though.

I have to say that is a weird aspect to get bothered by. I mean, most of these stories are doujin so the author either tells the story they wanted to tell or they explain the details of their mind canon.

And you're oversimplyfing things by assuming futa is a way to introduce het into a lesbian setting for the guys' sake. The average male internet dweller is repulsed by futa since they actually see it as gay content. Futa is just another fetish but if you wanna analyze the implications of it, most people find it endearing because they want to be dominated by women and the penis is the symbol of dominance by excelence.

I just think it's cute and gently. Not focus too much on sex ( especially when it comes to Futa ).

Most of futa is meant to be a "best of both worlds" type of deal. The intent is to excuse a penis to be there, but it's not like it doesn't provide some interesting sexual play in a fantasy setting when you have two functional genitals. And generally speaking there are usually more girls with penises because it's just what people prefer to see.
It's why there are straight guys who like reading trap porn but don't like straight up yaoi porn, because cute girls are cute, dicks or not.

I'm not saying you have to like futa, but it sounds like your anger is a bit misplaced just because you're too fixated on two characters keeping their canon gender. All of these doujins, yuri or not, are fanmade and non canon, it's not really fair to oppress an artist who likes to do futa while praising the artists who do yuri because they're both doing what they like with the story and providing their audiences with something they enjoy while disregarding the original material (yeah I know Love Live is full of undertones, but we all know they're not explicitly lesbians at any point in the show).

It simply is a matter of preference. Futanari isn't your cup of tea? Don't read it. You can express your dislike for it but you can't accuse people of not being into yuri just because they like futanari as well.

Exactly, the author has a story they want to tell. My problem is they're leaving a big, important part of the story out, which affects my enjoyment.

Looking at it on some grand "moral" scale, futa feels like it's making an effort to "normalize" a queer relationship by adding a penis. Much like gender-bending half of a gay couple is attempting to erase the potential gays (intention or no). If you're going to argue against making Love Live yuri but not futa/gender-bend/het, I can only assume you're being homophobic (or just don't want your waifu to be taken away). And surely there's nothing to be upset about if you treat everything with relativism. But that's hardly a philosophy for all, and there are certainly valid reasons to find certain content despicable (not even ruling out yuri here, either). Maybe I wasn't clear enough, but my key point was that every author should have the creative freedom to turn the characters into whatever they want to create and that, in Love Live's case, yuri isn't the only way, even if you personally think it's the best way, and that's the beauty of fanmade works, that's why I find it kind of unfair to despise authors who do futa or genderbender instead of most people's favorite, yuri.

Putting aside whether or not it's just for the sake of penis or for the sake of self intersting the reader into some het fantasy or even if it's poorly written porn, the fact still stands, it's not "more wrong" to do one over the other as at the end of the day none of them are canon works and as such should never be bound by imaginary rules such as "Love Live is only yuri".

Don't like futa? That's perfectly fine. Even I prefer yuri Love Live over futa Love Live. (I wasn't arguing against it btw, just mentioning I know a couple people who dislike the yuri aspect of the Love Live fandom as much as some people here seem to despise futa just because their preferences don't align).
But saying the author is doing something bad by drawing a futa comic really doesn't sit well with me.

If I am told that Honoka had rough childhood, grew up in orphanage and etc, then yes I accept this change because it is a what if setting. If there is no back story or explanation, that's laziness.

Most futa stories end up all hetero looking :/ I do not like that, I want to see both the girls enjoy themselves both with AND without the penis involved like this one. Maki had two orgasms without it being inserted, she was definitely taken care of.

I don't exactly like Honoka and Maki as a ship because I do not feel it has enough supplies to take off on a long voyage. However for some reason it completely worked in this story.

As a fan of futa and of love live, I can honestly say that this was just wonderful <3 read it at least 5 times.
