I think this piece is making fun of how some people spread misinformation without thinking about it, thus the "then it's fine" reaction towards potassium cyanide.

It's that but I think it's more so a take on the silly war against non-GMO stuff. MSG? That's a chemical made in a lab. Obviously bad.

Potassium cyanide? Well I know that's in apples, which means it's natural and thus obviously good.

Good job.
I wanted to know if the clothes is really on sale, or was it just for joke?

It was not just a joke, the t-shirt went on sale when this chapter came out, but it was pulled out of stock a couple weeks later due to quality issues and has not been re-stocked since.

Do you get anything for finding a stamp?

You can send the company 1 gold stamp or 5 silver stamps and they'll send you a toy.

wtf is sprinkled sushi

Chirashi Sushi, it's just fish, vegetables, and other colorful toppings served on top of rice in a bowl.

I think this is a case where it would have been better to leave the word in Japanese. At least in my case, I've ordered chirashi don before, but I've never heard of sprinkled sushi.

I'm aware it's always sold as chirashi in real life. The word chirashi was translated to make the pun work. It would not work if I left it in Japanese and would have required a translation note, which I avoid as much as possible. It's always a game of compromise, but I tend to prefer making the dialogue flow properly, and especially making the punchline actually funny.

Chirashi Sushi, it's just fish, vegetables, and other colorful toppings served on top of rice in a bowl.

Sounds suspiciously like a poke bowl.

Similar, yes, but traditional Hawaiian poke is a raw fish salad, no rice. (the "poke" bowls sold around the world outside of Hawaii are more similar to bibimbap, a rice bowl that you top with almost whatever you want)

The big goal of chirashi sushi is to look pretty, it has a very specific plating/look and it's toppings are chosen specifically to create a colorful dish.

So, I guess Hinami wins ??

In a real life setting, if your opponent deems your style of play as overly aggressive and non sportsmanship-like (ie if you're sending everything flying all the time), you can call a judge, who can then penalize you.

Generally speaking, there is a tolerance for accidentally knocking other cards around while going after one card, but like anything, this tolerance has a limit. I would say sending the whole tatami mat flying goes over this threshold.

I like the guy friend well enough as a character, but does he really have to be more of a main character than the girlfriend?

I will mention on this point that this manga is more so about Himeno and her interactions with the people in her life (there are more characters later on besides Hajime) rather than just strictly being about her and Yoru's love life, if that wasn't clear already.

Granted, even when she's talking to someone else about some other topic it often wraps back around to being about Yoru in some way so...

There are multiple chapters about Yoru and/or the two together though (reminder we got 82 chapters to go)

I think part of why Hajime is so prominently featured too is that the author is primarily a BL writer, and Hajime actually existed in their doujins before Himeno came into existence, so he's sort of a foundational character for this universe. There's even an entire BL manga set in this same universe that's just about him where Himeno is just a small side character. So that's why I think the author wanted him to have an important role in this manga, as Hajime is clearly a dear character to the author.

But yeah I wanted to mention all this so people don't have the wrong expectations. You should consider this more of a slice of life kind of thing where romance is a bit more secondary (though it still plays a major role at multiple points)

I just saw this comment but the author is not primarily a BL writer, she doesn’t have much mangas (but all of them are romance) her first work was this (2021) and then she used Hajime and realesed a spin-off (2022) and her lastest work is a het romance (2024)

She's actually talked on twitter about this topic (wish I could find the tweets again) and essentially she doesn't really consider herself a BL author, but rather just wants to draw whatever she feels like drawing, whether that's gay couples, lesbian couples, straight couples, or no couples.

The reason a lot of people made this confusion is because, for a good while, all she really did was post Hajime & Yotsuhashi (the BL spin off) content. In fact, she was so into it that she made an entire separate, independent version on pixiv because she liked them so much (which she has now entirely deleted because fans were concerned about its problematic nature in some aspects, namely NTR). For context, Hime-chan hardly got any love outside of its serialization. There were a few art posts but nothing much and 2 epilogue chapters on fanbox, which only came after fans begged the author for them (and she was rather hesitant initially about drawing them).

When 80% of your posts are BL you tend to get seen as a BL author. Only recently has she started 2 new serializations which are not BL and finally broken out of that image.

Though with regards to her latest work; it is het, yes (one of the MCs is in a het abusive relationship) but I also feel it will explore other orientations later down the line because the protagonist is essentially a love advisor and the shtick of the manga is that people from all walks of life come to her to solve their relationship problems. I suspect we'll have gay/lesbian folks coming sooner or later (it's only 3 chapters in so too early to tell). I'm actually really tempted to translate it if it does turn out that way but I'm waiting a few more chapters just to be sure.

Chapter 89 might have been the closest I've ever gotten to adding the yuri tag on this series.

Tsukino, just let your wife into your life...

Where is today's chapter ? I need my fix >_<

I am currently on a trip to Japan. My plan was to still post from my laptop but as it turns out, trips are freaking exhausting and I've mostly come back to the hotel too tired to post anything. I'll try and get some out still but it'll probably be irregular.

Are Chapter 54 and 55 supposed to be the same, or did one accidentally get overwrite?

Oops, I must have accidentally overwritten the wrong chapter when trying to update this one. Fixed.

Chapter 55 was out when I first started this series and was probably the biggest factor in me considering the yuri tag.

Imagine being an all powerful eldritch being but not using your powers to get married to your crush because you want her to love you naturally.

This is both yuri and subtext, the white one clearly loves the black haired girl and clearly expresses it [plus they confessed and confused them for her wife] while the black haired girl is subtext since while she does respond to these advances its usually more in the "oh their just really good friends" way so we got yuri chan and subtext chan

Yeah, that's kinda how I feel. This is why I wasn't sure how to tag the series. Tsukino is such an unknown variable because she mostly just brushes Hinami aside. But the way Hinami acts is so very much yuri in my opinion (I think it's hard to see it as anything else)

If people want to suggest other tags feel free. I think I'm too biased to do it.

With chapter 52, we FINALLY got Tsukino's last name reveal, which unsurprisingly is derived from the word "black", directly contrasting with Hinami's last name, which is derived from the word "white".

Basically they're like yin and yang. Shiratori Hinami (white + sun) and Kuromiya Tsukino (black + moon).

Has....has Hinami been low key committing human rights crimes ? :/

The Geneva convention won't thwart her love for her wife.

Regarding chapter 36: from here on out, the story will occasionally be interspersed with entries in Hinami's picture diary.

For the most part, these entries are set in previous chapters and detail what Hinami did that day as well as how she really feels without any joking. They provide the overarching narrative that I'm sure many readers were looking for, as well as context for what is going on in the background (meta layer) of the story.

This first one clarifies a big thing: Hinami is nearly omnipotent when she's in the gag manga world. I won't call her 100% omnipotent because she also doesn't call herself that (she says she has power akin to that of a God or 神に等しい力 in Japanese) and if she truly was omnipotent then she wouldn't have had to resort to kidnapping the author. Perhaps we could say she has localized omnipotence that's limited to the manga world.

This also addresses the continuity issues people were often commenting about. It's not that this is just a silly gag manga where nothing matters and time gets reset every chapter, it's that Hinami is an all powerful being that can bend reality. There is narrative continuity, in that at the very least Hinami remembers what happened before and is aware of time moving forward, but the laws of physics/causality/etc in the manga world just don't apply.

We know she can cheat death, transform herself and others at will, ignore physics, and bend reality as a whole. This would also explain how she was able to manipulate time to send the postcard back to the past to warn herself at the start of the manga.

Lastly, this entry clearly gives us the main motivation behind Hinami's actions: she wants her life with Tsukino to go on forever, and the story ending means putting an end to that.

This does bring up a question that I legit don't have an answer to: is Tsukino sentient like Hinami? Or more broadly, what makes Hinami different from the other participants in this manga?

It's quite apparent that Hinami has very strong feelings toward Tsukino (whether you think it's just a platonic thing or she legit wants to have her science babies), but we've yet to see if Tsukino is just some sort of npc or if she's a special character similar to Hinami but without omnipotent power.

Given that Hinami likes her so much, to the point where she's willing to break out of her world and kidnap her world's creator, I can't help but think Tsukino is special too. It's possible Hinami and Tsukino are the only 2 people "alive" in this world, whatever that may entail, which kinda makes this story a bit depressing.

They truly were roommates.

Hey we got to the yuri chapter!

This is the exact opposite of subtext though, which makes it hilarious that it's getting tagged as such XD

I asked multiple people on the dynasty discord what they thought about this and several future chapters that, imo, go further than this.

For example (spoilers for 2 chapters but nothing too serious) In one chapter, Hinami reflects on this proposal saying "I tried to propose to Tsukino-chan but she ignored me. She must have thought it was just one of my usual jokes." with an image of Hinami heartbroken. In another chapter, Hinami purposefully loses her futon so she can sleep in the same bed as Tsukino. And there are more moments like this sprinkled throughout that suggest Hinami has feelings for Tsukino

But I was advised to go with the subtext tag for the time being because Pageratta has been iffy with releasing explicit yuri ever since his sole yuri series came out. I will leave it up to readers if they actually think it deserves to be tagged as yuri. Don't wanna create false expectations.

Chapter 24 is one of several chapters that made me add the subtext tag to this entry.

I don't know whether this series will actually go down the yuri route or not (I'd have been the first one to add the yuri tag if it did) but I am comfortable saying these two have some pretty sapphic roommate moments sometimes.

adult life tag?

I wasn't sure if whatever insanity they're doing counts as "average adult life" but if that tag serves for anything with adults then I guess so.

I forgot this tag existed! I'll add it because it won't get any less weird that's for sure.
