I think enough of it comes across as Subaru learning her new femininity through Akane that it avoids feeling like the changes are just gender magic. The dynamic shift of things expected of Subaru as the boyfriend to Akane acting on her greater experience of being a woman is neat and helps the framing of them navigating a new relationship dynamic stay in focus. Flawed but earnest.

Oooo this might be the only chapter that kinda really ticked me off, I feel as though the reason why it did was obviously. Yk, saying that you’re only a couple if it’s with a man and a woman. This chapter just rubbed my the wrong way, like even if ya a lot of people don’t wanna recognize the fact that two women can be a couple, I think the fact that the author made it so the girls keep the old underwear up re-affirms the fact that they think that again, a couple can only be with a man and a woman.

Woof sorry for the short rant, I still like the story, this just made me mad.

I agree with rudy on subaru being a bit dumb. I think it's more just the impression she wants to give rather than whether or not they're actually a couple. It's made very clear they're still a couple even as two women in later chapters though.

I do enjoy the fact that this isn’t presented in a “this thing that sucked because you were a boy is so much better when you’re a girl” type of way, more that it’s two different flavors of romance that our heroine enjoys equally

i think the former-he-now-she was giving an excuse, and was more thinking about how Japan deals with a lot of underwear thieves from women-only laundry hanging.

They still live, sleep, bathe, eat together. Subaru says "sorry for taking Akane away" to her little brother. History would call them good friends and roommates.
