Author mentioned people wanting a continuation but I think it's works better as a self-contained story, Meanwhile the continuation I want is the girl in the afterlife with her two wives fighting over her.

It could have already helped if the year was stated upfront perhaps? You know, "It's 2059 and my wife just came home after dying."
Not sure I have more feelings on the plot at the moment. The art was certainly cute though.

That's not even necessary, you can just imply it by showing pieces of future tech in the beginning. But also, guys, it's a one shot from an amateur on Twitter. Manage expectations a little. The comments here are consistently pedantic about works in this format.

Nice idea, cute art, pretty good execution for the format. And I feel like the ending subverts expectations a little
Usually, works like these try to be Black Mirror-esque and have a fucked up ending. There's still something very inhuman about these scifi macguffins that will inevitably elicit a visceral reaction but subverting it into something almost happy is pretty novel. Gets the noggin joggin a little, which what scifi should do.

Honestly from what I can gather of the ending and Nia 2, Nia 2 has memories from before deciding to go off the grid with her wife, thus who Mel has now is Nia before she accepted fighting her parents and stuff. It's actually really really nice to see Nia 2 thinking to herself "My mother would never aprove of this" and immediately rushing to meet her partner, now a stranger, because to her it was that moment of "HOLY SHIT I GOT TO HAVE MY OWN LIFE AND MY OWN CHOICES AGAIN WOOHOOO." It's much more subtle than that, but reading on it made me happy. Also author confirmed Heaven exists and Nia is in it so It's fun to imagine Nia and Nia 2 trying to fight for Mel while Mel is trying to calm them down, accidental polyamory is nice lol.

I was thinking about that too. It does raise some interesting questions about how exactly souls and the afterlife work in this setting. Like maybe for most people that get resurrected, since they're backed up with very recent memories their cloned soul and original soul kind of just merge into one consciousness in the afterlife after they die permanently? But in a case like Nia where her clone's personality and experiences would end up diverging heavily from the original, she just ends up as her own person/soul in the afterlife.

On a related note, it's fun to imagine just how Mel would treat Nia 2 compared to Nia 1. She'd probably be filled with all sorts of conflicting emotions about all sorts of things for a long while - whether to consider her a separate person or not, how to act now that she's considerably older than Nia, if falling in love with Nia all over again would count as betraying the original Nia, etc. And all the while Nia would see how much Mel cares for both her original and current selves and fall even more in love with her.

These kind of stories always make me uncomfortable, with how the new Nia is a brand new person...but also someone with the old person's face. It just gets to me personally.

Not to say the story is bad or that people shouldn't enjoy it, only that it's the kind of story that always lands in an uncomfortable place for me.

My stance is pretty simple: if organic free range clones (Identical Twins) are distinct people with their own souls, then artificial GMO clones (pick your sci-fi or realistic cloning method) are distinct people with their own souls. I mean, unless it was some kind of arcanotech 'download the soul into a new meatsuit' kind of thing like Evangelion.

I must say, when they said "Would you do ANYTHING? Just sign here!" I was expecting SIGNIFICANTLY more selling of souls to infernal powers.

I actually think this is peak because the mangaka stopped continuing right at that moment when Nia2 begins to figure out the love she had experienced just by seeing the wall full of pictures and the temperament of her wife and the apparent love she had for her. Since people personality is unlikely to change, Nia2 will simply fall in love "again" and her wife would realized that the memory was gone but the personality was still the same. This is a great romance and I actually think that this is a happy ending. It will work out simply because of Nia2's personality.

Couldn't they just, like I don't know.... CLEAN THE BLOOD OFF HER BAG AT LEAST?!

I just double checked, THEY LEFT IT BLOODY!? Would’ve thought a government agency could clean a purse, though Mel probably kept it after the accident.

I love the moment Nia just goes "Yup, I'm gonna NTR my(old)self."

Rather, isn't the saved Nia supposed to be the "old self"? Since she's a snapshot of Nia taken a long time ago.

Hmm, interesting and amusing one-shot (Sci-fi tag added before I could suggest it).

Like other people said, could written the story pacing better or in another way perhaps? But eh it was still good enough for a one-shot. Yeah...The whole soul thing and cloning of yourself topic (Are you the same person if you have the same memories, DNA and etc.????
[In this case, they didn't update the Data 5 years ago- Technically it is the year 2059])

L.M.G. A. (Living memories governing agency)...You know if the owner/creator switched the M and G plus added an I after the L then their organization would be joke about a lot more and well known...Their ego and pride on the other hand would take a massive hit lol

What makes a person a person/themselves topic thing (Memories, personality, DNA????)...The soul and original consciousness??? What exactly is a soul or helps create a soul? I am curious on what people's life on this topic lol.

It is very easy to tell a clone from the original if they not have the same memories/Past life experience. Well...According to the author on the last few pages...She is going to get two wives in the after life lol...Mono relationship become somewhat poly (Even if they are technically kind of the same/very very similar person).

Also LMGA...They must be making a lot of money from the whole cloning thing business (Need to get permission first from family members/lover though or permission from original person before hand).
Basically a free Respawn Depending/according to some people's views on life (If they think it same person or different person[Clone with just same personality + Memories])...Probably pretty expensive to do perform and do though (At least 5000-15,000+ Dollars)...RIP to Mel's wallet unless Nia had already pre-paid just in case. I would be surprised if it was cheaper, don't know the total price for all resources/energy/paperwork needed to perform a single another clone respawn. The whole issue/problem with clones is that they don't live long/shorter lifespan but they probably fixed that issue since no one would take that option if that issue still exist (Clone sheep example/ half normal lifespan).

Employee #1 at the place: ....Ummm Sir...Don't you think we should have at least clean or wash former Nia's bag first before giving it to her.

Employee #2 at the place: Eh?!....What do mean it not wash? I am pretty sure I told Employee #3 to wash...Oh wait right...that day was Taco Tuesday and I forget...I just though I did and told employee #3...Eh, I am sure it's fine...besides save us a few days from laundry fees from cleaning the bag.

Interesting.

If there's more of this world setting where the LMGA exists, I'd love to read that, too. Very interesting. So many potential stories just from that alone: the cost of cloning, data (memory/dna) safekeeping, quality of the clone (e.g. life span, health), getting cloned against one's will, and all the ethical issues. If the original person to be cloned was sick, can they even make a clone that is free from the disease? This alone can make the black market cloning flourish.

I usually stay away from anything tagged with tragedy but the first page and the lack of the ghost tag got me curious. Glad I read it. The ending was kinda cute.
