I did find myself wondering how on earth this little cinnamon roll could possibly have ended up ostracized. Like what kind of monsters are these kids?
My bet is their parents know who Sakura's parents are/were and told their kids not to talk or play with her.
It is definitely extremely plausible, and that along with just how jarringly anodyne most of the content in this series is, has me really interested in what the grittier spinoff is like

Wasn't Ruka or Saaya some kind of Yakuza hitman, or am I smoking crack? I seem to remember something like that.
UPDATE:
Here are all the guns we gathered this month. Wanna keep some?
Chiharu has so much womanly charm. Sakura is cute though, I can see why the other adults like being around her. She's a good contrast to the weariness of the other characters.
I have never felt more American than when I realized I was annoyed that Ruka had charged the knife rather than draw her gun.
It takes more time to draw a gun than to thrust with a knife, and bullets tend not to disable their targets as instantly as is often portrayed. And given this is a criminal endeavor, drawing undue attention is itself a risky decision. The American impulse to git yer gun is practically suicidal here, martial arts is the correct choice.
