These latest months I haven't seen many yuri manga :(... I really like Momono Moto's new one and some others (though they haven't been updated in a long time). Really, all I see are some touhou/love live/aikatsu doujinshi or some smutty manga that are all about sex and nothing more. Does anyone else feel the same as me? I think last year it was a bit better, there was something interesting every week... Though at least there's FF and WDTFS and some other ones on Lezhin anyway, though those are all webcomics. I love them and the more mature setting as well... And by the way, also some of the high school romance manga are a bit... dumb lately, like the one where they swap bodies. Sure, it's cute but >.>... I even started getting tired of Citrus, I used to really like it but I'm starting to feel it's getting a bit repetitive and the drama isn't even that dramatic, it's just kind of blowing things out of proportion.
Also the ANIME. Goshhhh... no yuri anime this year aside from Valkyrie Drive which is mostly about SEX. AGAIN. (I don't mean literally, but it's sexual and... just... weird... >.>). Pleaseee. We need a new mystery/suspense/drama anime where the protagonist is a super cool dark tall lady that falls in love with the crazy girly girl!!! Something like Monster, but yuri! That would be so great.

There, there. Don't be like that, fellow yuri lover. We've been getting quite a bunch of Takemiya Jin's stuff this year already. Also that incredibly gay cookbook, and ongoing Lily Love, Their Story and other series.

I even started getting tired of Citrus, I used to really like it but I'm starting to feel it's getting a bit repetitive and the drama isn't even that dramatic, it's just kind of blowing things out of proportion.

And this comes to us all, I guess? =p

I agree with you that there has been no yuri anime. Hopefully, the summer season of anime at least has one yuri anime. If it doesn't I’m going to wreck some fools. Valkyrie Drive is the worst anime I have ever seen, not even the yuri could save the piece of shit anime that is basically hentai. I do have my doubts though going by previous years. Last year we had Hibike Euphonium (which isn't even a yuri, it is only yuri in our minds I.E subtext yuri that would probably be het at the end so technically doesn't even count) and Yuri Kuma Arashi (this was actually good which I was surprised by). The author previously wrote lots of yuri doujin, but this one being serialized in Comic Dengeki Daioh, which isn't a yuri magazine, chances are it won't go very far.

I have a lot of hobbies alreadyyyy >.< I actually try to follow a lot GL comics but I don't really like a lot of the western ones because they are usually not focused on romance. I like Roomie though. Hm, talking about Belgian, I think a Tintin yuri type comic would be really cool ahaha ^-^'''(?). I also watch sooome films but I end disappointed by a lot of them, like the Botanist's daughter -.-... And I read GL books as well, but a lot of them are juuust... meh... not sooo 'sentimental' for my taste. But my favorite one is Silhouette of a Sparrow <3

You're right, the plot is essentially a shounen but well, that kind of repetition is to be expected on any kind of long running genre. Is like bitching because 70% of yuri series happen in high school, it comes with the territory.

Having said that, VDM is supported by its excellent characters and it gives enough twists to the usual tropes to stand out among the genre.

It is very erotic but it was always upfront about it so expecting something else is absurd. Personally, those sequences took a backseat at the amazing characterization.

And hey, the series got a huge female following and left its mark in the fandom. Nothing bad for a new IP

I kinda get what you mean but I think its because society changed by years and they already made shiiiit load of hidden or sad lesbian stories, now yuri and gay people are not that rare so stories start to focus on other elements. Like in Swap, there is a potential sci-fi, drama, romance series there but author made a cute laid-back story about highschool girls. About highschool mangas... yes they are dumb but they have always been like that. 'Cause all high schoolers are dumb, like me.

I actually liked Dalkyrie Drive's plot. I'm not a big fan of ecchi, but I don't mind it either. Though the main couple from Valkyrie drive was actually boring, especially Mamori.
But I got one of my favorite ships from it, Lady Lady. Easilly one of my top three OTPs
It was overall an ok show and I think it got bad critics mostly because of the ecchi stuff. Just like Seikon No Qwaser. I'm glad it didn't turn into a het harem somehow, so that's a plus.

I feel the same for Citrus. Feels like even the author is tired of it to be honest.

Also Hibike Euphonium announced a second season for 2016. It was official, not sure why there hasn't been any news from it again. Maybe it will be for the summer or fall.
It can be frustrating how some boring harem shows get second season, whlle yuri almosyt never does

And a plot like that, to have any yuri in it at all, guarantees that they will die. I just know it. Because a-fucking-pparently they still die today.

And for Valkyrie Drive, a lot of opinions differ. People are put off by it, or enjoy it greatly, or are meh ¯_(ツ)_/¯

It might have been borderline hentai, but one thing I liked was how it was yuri.
Like idk if you've noticed but it's not like there's much yuri hentai (anime) either (like 3. Whatever is tagged as yuri basically have girls making out while getting fucked by men), and I've come to appreciate it existing after reading viewer comments on the first episode asking why is it all girls, or hoping that they'll be guy/het harem, being overall unsatisfied that there isn't a male in the cast that will go make it het glory. I was so fucking mad haha, fucking privileged dicks (╯ಠ▃ಠ)╯︵ ┻━┻
Anyhow, even if things aren't satisfying, I appreciate that it came to be, especially when I'm reminded that it could have just easily been het porn. ok i obviously enjoyed it a lot more than just "appreciating" it but i was making a different point

It's funny though, cause I don't see the same problem with yaoi. Like people wanting one of the males to turn straight for a girl. But it happens with yuri often and if they realise it's not gonna happen they drop it.
Just look at Seikon No Qwaser, it's very similar to Valkyrie Drive, but with a male protegonist and mostly straight characters and got a 2nd season, while VD won't.

At the end of the day, it's about money. And money is padering to a certain audience. Yuri audience is relatively small compared to het or yaoi, so I guess maybe this is why they don't even bother to make a lot of decent yuris.
