Bridget was raised as a girl because in her town twin sons are considered a super bad omen, to the point where it's tradition to kill the youngest twin to counter the curse. Bridget's parents didn't want that so they raised her as a girl.
However, they felt really bad about doing this to Bridget so Bridget decided that she needed to go out into the world and prove that she, as the younger twin 'son', wasn't cursing her hometown and that she could bring it fortune, deciding rather impulsively to become a bounty hunter to accomplish that. After she accomplished this goal she realized she actually wasn't comfortable being a boy.
Bridget never really rebelled against her parents and was always on good terms with them and never really despised the situation she was in. She was raised as a girl but was also constantly reminded by her parents that she's actually a boy and that they felt bad about her not being able to be one openly. That's a pretty complicated situation to be in. While you could argue identifying as a girl is a 'regression' in terms of accepting the gender assigned to her, you could also argue that she only chose to assert her identity as a male in the first place due parental pressure as well.
Ultimately it's her choice what she's most comfortable as.
