Oh no

Some people here sure say some crazy stuff.
You don't do this to a person you want to reconcile with, you do this if you want to burn bridges.

At least for Jing Xiu, this isn't in her nature. It's her sister's nature and Jing Xiu just succumbed to it in a weak moment.

Yes. A weak moment she has because she has been emotionally broken by Youyan, who burned away years of their relationship out of selfishness.

Jing Xiu doesn't know about Youyan's time travel. Doesn't know that her life became a mess for three years, before she killed herself, over what she's done. From her perspective, her ex just came back one day and tried to mend their relationship out of nowhere with flowers and love letters. There is nothing concrete, no commitment in what Youyan has offered.

You don't do this to a person you want to reconcile with, you do this if you want to burn bridges.

If this does anything to their reconciliation, puts even a dent in the bridge between them, then Youyan doesn't deserve the chance she's being given. Because she should know exactly that she herself, that her doing this exact kind of thing, are the reasons why Jing Xiu is emotionally weak, constantly worried, and so lacking in self-love that she'd marry someone she doesn't love in another timeline.

Two wrongs don't make a right. Being hurtful on purpose to "get even" is not okay

Forgiveness is earned, not owed. Jing Xiu could ask something utterly humiliating from Youyan and would still be in her right. Instead, she asks of her to feel what Jing Xiu herself felt years before ; although, where Jing Xiu had done nothing wrong except to pick a bad partner, Youyan will know exactly what she has done to deserve being treated like that.

If Youyan can't or doesn't want to go through something that is still less painful than what she inflicted upon Jing Xiu to earn her forgiveness, she can just walk away. She has no right to complain.

Mind you, I don't necessarily think it is healthy for Jing Xiu, either. If she trusted Youyan, if she knew why her ex has come back, she wouldn't stoop to such low games, which will only hurt them both. Still, she has both the right and understandable reasons to ask Youyan to bear with this.

oooof.
I feel this in my bones.
thanks for writing that, Bielna

The novel's title is translated as, My Feelings Can Wait.

It's gonna be long road for Youyan to rebuild all the trust and goodwill that she burned thru, and from what I take from that title, and her actions so far, she's ready for that

Wrong. Forgiveness isn't earned, but trust is. Never confuse them.

Yeah, forgiveness is given. It's the choice of the person giving it.

I just want to point out that they aren't sisters: Jing Xiu and Tao Xingruo.

Aww yiss. Jing Xiu couldn't let her feel the loneliness, in the end. And how could she ? She knows the feeling, herself. Even if it would make a point, when you know something's painful, it's hard to want to inflict it upon someone you like.

And yes, I also did approve of her staying back in a previous comment. I think both options were right, but I'm happy out of the two, she chose the one that's happier.

Even if you think it was the wrong choice, I don't think its realistic for Jing Xiu to always make the correct choice. Ji Youyan very obviously hasn't always made the correct choice either, and yet because she's the pov character most of the time people have a lot more sympathy for her situation. I agree with @Bielna that I can understand both sides of Jing Xiu's decision making process here, and that both of them need more time to grow as people and figure out how to have a relationship with one another, regardless of simple romance.

That's fine but their initial argument was that they "didn't see anything wrong" with her decision, not only that but according to them Youyan should have essentially accepted her "punishment," etc--it wasn't just about understanding.

I think we understand where Jing Xiu is at mentally but doing the alternative would have been wrong and would have negatively shadowed her character and their current reconciliation. She's a good person so she couldn't live with that kind of decision in the end. It would have been a bit unrealistic for her not to feel uncomfortable considering what we know about her personality.

They're super cute.

Just want to say that I'm happy Youyan knows she was wrong. Unlike what some readers seem to believe, when she thought Jing Xiu had left her hanging, she didn't blame her or thought she was wrong. She was pained, but she understood the reasons and bore with the same pain she had caused before. And she has no resentment, which wouldn't have been justified.

That her staying awake is plainly confirmed to mean not "I hope she'll come back tonight" (a hope she didn't have) but "I'll accept your judgement and show my willingness to atone", her desire to bear with that and show she had changed and deserved another chance ? I think that's exactly what makes her deserve that chance.

So she assumed she wouldn't come back that night, yet stayed up waiting anyway, to go through what her ex (for now) went through

It seems like they're on the same page now, with each of them extending an acceptance to one another. Ji Youyan accepting that Jing Xiu needs time, and Jing Xiu accepting Ji Youyan's efforts

I'm on the fence about Jing's character. I'm not fan of the super stoic and cold characters that the other person has to constantly chase after. The story here does make it clear there is a good reason for her behavior though. Still, since this is about a relationship development it can get frustrating.

Anyway, there actually are 145 chapters out right now and even though this is super slow burn, it somehow still has captured me since I've read it in one go and didn't quit because of the back and forth lol
