Actually, now that it's come to this, Akira might make a surprisingly strong addition to the story. I know people hate love triangles, but the biggest tension in Ayako and Asuka's potential relationship - okay, the second biggest tension in their potential relationship - is that Ayako may be looking at her daughter as a substitute for her husband, right? Asuka has half his DNA, etc. Well, if that's her motivation, then doesn't Akira serve that purpose much better than Asuka ever could? Not only does she share much of the husband's DNA, she shares Ayako's pain of having lost him, she's an adult, and, y'know, she's not her goddamn daughter. That's (usually) a bonus.

If Ayako wants a replacement, Akira is eminently the best person for the job in every way. If Ayako chooses Asuka anyway, then it'll be because of Asuka's unique qualities as an individual, and not because of her similarity to her father. Or it'll be because Ayako secretly has a massive incest fetish and just thinks it's totally hot to get it on with a family member, but shhhhhhh, never mind that.

This is a really great analysis of this development. Usually, introducing characters this late in a story is really bad, and still kinda is here because there was no foreshadowing to Akira's existence whatsoever. However, as you've said, her introduction is fortuitous and is the perfect dilemma we need at this stage of the narrative.

Personally, I hope it does end in incest. I mean, that's what the story is catering to and it would feel disingenuous if their relationship was thrown away for the late-entry college sister-in-law. Also, I don't know if Asuka could handle being a part of the family after having been accepted then later "dumped," for all intents and purposes.

I said this earlier, but we're all going to hell for reading this.

I'm fine with that. I don't actually believe in hell anyway.

And I hope you two are right because I'll feel cheated if this story doesn't end with the mom and daughter together (I'm willing to accept a time skip, but only because I want more adult daughter x mother yuri out there).

Oh my...that was something to watch... O/////O
It’s kinda interesting to see Ayako trying to help Asuka with her feelings for her. It’s definitely clear that she doesn’t know exactly how to help Asuka while maintaining a strictly family relationship because letting her kiss her, isn’t quite the right way to do it. But as someone who likes this ship, go ahead and kiss her. I don’t mind at all. And now, the agonizing wait for chapter 8 and 8.5 to be translated and posted here....

Her mom doesn't say she's her daughter after the kiss? And even if Asuka was her daughter, it seems that there is still room for interpretation what Ayako was about to say.

To moderators: this is the first chapter of volume 3 (I'm pretty sure that I wrote it when I uploaded the chapter, didn't I? Also, volume cover has number 3)

Also, jeez, all these three-syllable names beginning with A are a bit much. What's next? Will the father's name turn out to be Akio? Are we going to meet their neighbours, the Aikawa family? Is a CPS agent called Atsuko going to threaten to tear them apart just as their relationship is starting to take off? Watch out! She doesn't look like much, but she's a specialist in aikido! Christ.

The father's name is Atsushi.

Have we ever see this Jun before? I'm hoping he won't suddenly show up just to make trouble.

That aside, I really like how the mother and daughter continues to communicate. They save themselves a whole lot of melodramatic chapters that way.

You know it might be that Asuka isn't actually Ayako's daughter but her niece. It might be that Akira might actually be Asuka's mother.

Eh, I like her already. Her casual bickering with Asuka is fun to watch. And if that smirk in the last panel is anything to go by she'll make a fine addition to the cavalcade of trolls the supporting cast mostly consists of...

Have we ever see this Jun before?

He was first mentioned already back in chapter four so it's not like he just appeared out of thin air...

I think its the best friend's brother, the one who said she was ruining her mom's life by being so clingy or something along those lines a couple of chapters ago.

I like how the mother is basically the chill and less creeped out version of this mom: https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/my_daughter_has_been_hiding_mother_daughter_incest_porn_books

One noteworthy thing about Jun-kun, the Forever Friendzoned, is that him running his mouth and hitting a nerve or two was the direct catalyst for Asuka to start acting on her feelings. In the very next chapter no less.

In the very same chapter. Also, there were a lot of catalysts for Asuka: Jun words, meeting her "evil alter ego", meeting potential rival and finally - the last straw - Ayako's calling her husband's name in her sleep.

Oh right, I stand corrected on the chapter. But from how she was mulling over things - in part manifesting as her "other self" asking some very pointed questions - that argument with Jun was the pebble that started the landslide.

Poor boy buried himself whatever shred of chances he might have had, back there.

Well glad that there's no drama after all for now

Let's just hope that smile in the end is just she's planning to tease them tommorow or something and not some convoluted ntr rape masterplan or something

This is quite plausible but I'm no fan of cop-outs. There again, still aunt/neice although by marriage.

I'd maybe have bought it if it had been revealed before they had gone this far ... but basically having incest sex and then afterwards going "surprise, it was actually (sort of) fine!" wouldn't make much sense.
