Makes sense I suppose. It just looked an awful lot like one of those cases where someone realises they're saying too much and hastily switch to similar word halfway through irrespective of how little sense it makes, so I was combing through my terribly limited Japanese vocabulary to see if anything clicked and wondering if a joke had been lost in translation.
