Late reply but that's an odd reasoning for an understandable opinion. Barely showing the monster is a staple, letting the viewer fill in the negative space and all that. (Not that I am implying that Hollywood can even conceptualize the viewer as capable of engaging on eye-level in the artistic dialogue with a film.)

Also because VFX are expensive, I guess. Yeah it's probably mostly that.
