I do agree that the series should probably not actually be tagged with Yandere unless something changes from here. The alleged Yandere lacks the very specific core thing that defines that archetype of dere; the extreme obsession with someone, and simply being "mentally unwell and violent" isn't close enough in itself imo, that just makes them psychotic.

It's an interesting read for what it is so far though, just not what I expected from the title.

To be fair, the girl who's supposed to be a yandere isn't actually into the villainess yet, and I don't think love at first sight is a firm, unbreakable rule of yanderes. Things could very much change when her feelings towards Hesha do.

Read a little bit ahead of what's been posted here and to me Jolene feels more like a sociopath who realized early on that antisocial behavior had steep, long-lasting social ramifications, and that she needed to squash her violent impulses and play by the rules of others if she wanted to get by in life. She's definitely got some of the traits associated with yanderes, but doesn't really have much of the single-minded limerent obsession that defines the archetype.

That's how I make sense of this series, too.

I will concede aesthetics matter, but I think it's enough if someone is mentally unwell is a "dangerous" way that influences how they express love. That distinguishes from someone with depression who doesn't go out much, for instance, or even a real life person with psychosis who's much more likely to do something like accidentally drowning themselves than to hurt someone else.

@Melon

So far Yolene has just defended herself against a bitch, who for no reason starts to bully her to the point she becomes homeless. What would you do as a reaction? ahead.

Probably something other than kissing or biting the person who is bullying me.

Saw some comments on the 1st page and Only read a first few of the chapters (Will read the rest later to get up to date) but it seems the yandere tag will probably be properly tag when the MC develop romantic feelings toward the villainess [Not sure if it happen yet in the latest chapters but I am going to assume they will be getting closer to friendship level then romantic levels, just my assumption/baseless theory and guess on how the MC will develop into a yandere type for Villainess later I guess....Then MC can show off her possessive yandere side lol XD].

Series look interesting from the first few chapters I seen so far, bit slow pace but eh the author is taking her/his/their time building the story up I guess.

Take Hesha out of a toxic environment for a month, and she turns into quite a darling, doesn't she?

Jolene coming in with the bottle save! I could honestly read a whole manga about her just going around glassing people

Praying that the art and story do get better later, as alleged by other posters. Because right now... Well, the story is nothing revolutionary, but that art needs work.

Hoping for the best!

Well that's a lame reply, sorry, if you won't give an example of sth she could have done to fight back, that would not have made her situation worse. I'd actually be interested in a plotline that would have spun from her reacting differently.

It doesn't really matter what I would do. I'm not a comic character and my life would not be interesting to read about. Anything "could have" worked if the author wanted (eg, murdering Hesha and starting a rebellion, leaving the academy and starting a business, finding a magic animal, etc).

"Bite the bully and capitalize on their latent attraction to you" is one of the more out there and less realistic possibilities, which is part of the fun in reading about it.

Anyway, since you asked twice:

If I am in a feudal society where upsetting a noble will lead to me being executed or at least publicly flogged + losing professional and educational opportunities, short term I would apologize and try to ask Hesha what I can do to reconcile.

I would also hope to build a relationship with another noble at the school who ranks as a duke or higher, as they are the only one with the social standing to shield me. I would hope to be seen as someone academically successful, uninteresting, inoffensive, and useful.

More realistically, I would have never been accepted into this school in the first place, as I didn't do well in school. I would stay in my village and farm vegetables.

There is a reason they don't make comics about me.
